Curious what people think of the Savage Storm rifle. Thanks.

My friend shot his sheep with one last year, seemed like a good rifle for the money. Nothing fancy, just a plastic stocked stainless savage.

I had thought of one because the price point was pretty hard to beat.

The magazine setup seemed a bit flimsy but otherwise, how are so many choices better?

My Weather Warrior, which was similar to the Storm, is the most accurate factory rifle I have ever owned, and I have owned a bunch of higher dollar rifles.

I own a number of high-end hunting rifles, from various makers. None are anywhere close to being as accurate as the Savage 110 Ultralite 6.5 PRC I acquired earlier this year. With a Proof Research barrel, and the Accutrigger set at 2 lb., it shoots sub-.5 MOA with several different bullet weights in my handloads. Add in the all-up, with scope, weight of 7.5 lb., and this is simply a great combo for mountain hunting.
I doubt that Shaw would use the Savage action as the receiver for their custom rifles and barrels if they didn't think it was a great choice.

I think shaw uses them because they are easy to swap parts and barrels and assemble with a minimum of actual gunsmithing and machining.

Not to say they aren't good rifles. I have owned a lot over the years

i had a savage weather warrior in 30-06 that was my most accurate hunting rifle. i gave it to one of my bonus sons. he hasn't even shot it yet (not a gun guy) but he will shoot it sometime in november, then most likely kill one of the many whitetails currently eating soybeans in my fields. i bought the rifle to give away, but was pleased with the feel and function of the rifle. i'm sure the new storm is equally good. go ahead and grab one.

My Savage 243 is a tack driver, I'm sure the storm will have no problem with accuracy.
Another economy rifle I would consider would be a Ruger Predator

I recently bought a Savage Brush Hunter in 338WM. I like it, and the Storm had more features.

With handloads, I am at 1.25" for 4 shots at 100 yds with TTSX bullets. Nothing to complain about.

I don't own a Storm, but I do have a Model 110 Hunter in 280 Ackley Improved I bought here at the 'Fire. It has a 5R barrel, Accu-trigger, Accu-Stock, and the new configurable butt stock. It shoots very well. The bedding block in the stock makes it a bit heavy, but that's not a bad thing for me with shoulder issues.

What I like about Savage is they keep improving their line with new developments like 5R rifling and the configurable stock. I can shorten the stock for hunting season when I am wearing heavy clothes, and make it longer in the summer for range shooting in a tee shirt.

PB, I had ONE, S 110 C. Gave me fits.
Someone wanted it bad, I let him have it reasonably.

I wouldn’t risk it again.

Right / Wrong IDK, ain’t trying to find out.

If that’s what you’re looking for, it’ll probably shoot well like 99% of model 110’s. We have a couple of Savage rifles but none were bought for their classic beauty.
