IMO, quarter bore shooters should load up. Shelf life is really good.

A bud and my uncle use the 117 SST on deers. Both really like them.

Uncle hunts hardwood timber and my pard hunts field edges. Shots range from up close to 350sh.

No complaints from either that I am aware of.

If it were me I would give the 100 grain TTSX a shot. Drive em hard and fast, they will do anything a lead core bullet will do and end up w more retained weight if you do want to shoot larger critters.

100 TTSX is a killer in my Roberts, 3,260 fps over max dose of H-100V. And it’s sub MOA.

Not sure what the best 100 gr. TTSX 25-06 load would be. Had one in the past, traded it for something I thought I needed more.

I am sure newer powders would do something better, maybe, but I would probably start w good old IMR-4350.

RL-17 may be a hot SOB w 100 grain pills.

RL17 is the ticket for speed with the 100gr stuff. Have to watch it in warm weather though. My 25-284 makes about 3330 with RL17 and the 100gr E-Tip (23" barrel).

Currently load for two rifles in 25-06, Remington Sendero and 700 BDL.

IMR4831 with Hornady 117 BTSP

IMR4350 with Hornady 75 gr HP or Vmax

Have an old load with IMR4350 using the Hornady 120 HP, which I was lucky enough to find 5 boxes of last week!

I have the same interest in the 117 gr SST performance or importantly will the bullet " over perform" for shots under 100 yards versus a 200 yard poke. My grandson will carrying the 25-06 this year so he will have to place the St bullet in the right place.

My son shot a 4 pt. last year at 160 yds with the 100gr Hornady spire point with no bullet exit.....of course the small buck was DRT. Didn't find the bullet either.

Now I have to find a pound of H-4831sc just to work up a load, the 25-06 brass is prepped and primed.

The old Robert’s is nipping at the heels of the 25-06 and 25-284, while burning less powder.

I know, I know displacement rules. These high tech powders can add new performance to older rounds.
