Howdy - has anyone here used this "mono-metal" bullet intended specifically for the 30-30 cartridge?
I'm curious about it. Are there any handloading considerations? Any rifle considerations? Any worries about using it on deer-sized game - like will it fail to expand?
With the 30-30 I've always used conventional 150 and 170 grain flat-nose or round nose soft point lead-core bullets at normal lever-action 30-30 velocity. Thinking I'd like to give the 140 MonoFlex a try.
Thanks! Guy

Good chance to plow it into jugs Guy and see what it does. I can’t think it’d be bad though. Might be a zippy little bullet helping to expand it as well.

You might want to try a box of Hornady factory loads on paper or deer first. With factory or handloaded bullets available in 150 gr, 160 gr FTX along with 170 gr bullets I don't see the need for a monolithic bullet....unless you hunt in a zone that's unleaded.

For a 30-30 I don't see a need for it either. I am more interested in the 135gr ftx.
I would have got him too but a Dad Blam snow flake hit me in da eye....

Mostly curious about it, as I know there are places where lead bullets are outlawed, and I'd like to see how these 140 gr unleaded Hornady bullets work.

And ya, I'm very happy with my handloaded ammo using the 170 grain Sierra FNSP.
Just looking to try something rather different.

If you are shooting a Savage lever gun try the 110 barnes ttsx.
