I've got a 6mm SPC in the works. Mine will be the 6.8 case necked down with no other modifications. My original plan was to do a 6mm-204 Ruger, but there's no .204 brass to be had and I've got plenty of 6.8 brass. This rifle will mostly be fed 80-90 grain bullets for deer. Dave Kiff at PT&G spec'd a reamer, and a 1/8 Hart barrel is in the que. The donor rifle is a stainless Ruger 77 .223.

Anyone else running a 6mm SPC?

6MM HAGAR

24 NOSLER

Pretty much what you're shooting at. Reamers and dies should be available.

There’s also a .25 York for Boomers.

Yep, very similar JR. I already got dies from CH4D. I took a look at the .24 York, but he lost me when he offered to sell 20 pieces of brass for $50 plus shipping.

I have a 6dti. If I was doing it again I would do 6mm Hagar or a 22 nosler. 55 grain bullets at 3550 from a 20 inch barrel is what I run. TAC is the powder. This is ar 15. If we are talking bolt guns. I just go 243, or better yet 6-284

I was interested in the Hagar for a short time until I found out brass by Hornady was apparently a one-time production back in 2012 or so. I think the DTI is a good round but I didn't want to mess around with fire-froming. My rifle is a .223 so in addition to the bolt face getting opened up for the larger casehead, the magazine parts and bolt stop are getting switched out to the regular .308 parts so I won't have any COL issues. The reasons for this rifle are to learn some new things, have more power for bigger predators, and a mild shooting deer rifle for kids.

I built my wife a bolt gun in 6mm Hagar. She seems to like it.

Would 2900 fps be achievable in an accurate load with a 90 grain projectile in a 22" barrel with say a 6 DTI or similar?
