Considering the S&W M&P22 Compact. Anyone have experience with this particular model? Can anyone compare it to the Ruger SR22? Thanks!

I have both models. Both are reasonably accurate for what they are, very light and handy little pistols. I shoot the SR-22 a fuzz better than the M&P, because my SR has the 4.5" barrel. Neither of them have ever choked or puked, but I stick with high velocity ammo, I don't think I've ever shot any SV in them. Both have been 100 %, I cannot fault either one's reliability.
I like them both, but the Smith fits my hand a little better, and it has a proper safety that works in the right direction, as opposed to the Ruger's bassackward safety, The Ruger's trigger is a little better, but if you concentrate really hard, you can shoot the Smith pretty well. Both carry well, the light weight allows you to almost forget they're on your side.
My wife has a regular SR, and it will choke now and then, with the same ammo I use in mine, but that might be her limp-wristing it or something, it works fine for me.

Both appeared and worked well in basic pistol classes along with our G44s. All three have surprised me by their overall reliability, better than many negative reviews I've seen. Considering they're most used by very recoil-sensitive weak-wristed gals that's saying alot. The little mouse gun types (beretta, taurus, etc) do not fare as well in their hands. And the smaller, shorter slides are harder for them to operate.

Possibly we've stumbled into ammo they all like. All are decently accurate, if not Smith 41/Ruger Mk2 bull bbl level.

The trigger on my Smith is nothing to brag about, but I give the gun 5 stars for reliability.

My M&P Compact has been a fun, reliable gun. No issues with anything I've fed it. It's a nice addition if you have an M&P or Shield

How does the trigger on the 22 compare to the M&P 2.0 centerfire pistols?

Had one and sold it. Not sure the draw.
I don’t consider a .22lr a self defense round, so if I’m shooting it, it’s at targets for accuracy. I’ll take a 22/45 or mkII/III/IV any day if it’s a tiger semi rimfire.

I have the M&P full size (not sure they make it anymore) but mine will shoot very well. It will run about anything I put in it and I use it as a training tool for my M&P 4.25" model 9mm.

Love ours, give it a quick clean after 500 rounds or so. Very few jams even with cheap thunderbolts. The compacts are actually made by smith, the full size are contracted out by walther if not mistaken and have had issues.

Don't know who makes the full size but mine has been flawless. It did jam a few times with some old old old 22 ammo that I had that the lead tip had turned white on. I can't fault the gun for that as I shot it just to see if it would shoot it. The only guns I have that would shoot that stuff are bolt actions that have a loose chamber.
When I ran normal stuff thru my M&P is has been 100%

I have one and really like it. Shoot it suppressed 99.9% of the time using CCI #0056 subsonic 1040fps segmented HP rounds. I cannot stand the SR-22 for the same reason RatSmacker said. The safety is back-asswards. I will never own a gun where down is safe and up is fire. Just cannot do it.

Had one and sold it. Not to be a wet rag, but I couldn’t see the point. In a rimfire handgun, anything less than exceptional accuracy is boring as hell. A 2MOA 9mm or .45acp for self defense is purposeful, a .22lr? Not for me.

I shoot my m&p compact suppressed also it’s a really fun gun but that is about it. Just for laughs and to have something almost movie quiet.
