It's true the NCAA is headed for the dust bin. NIL is huge. Want to see my Aggies play that Austin team again. Hoping for the PAC12 to make some gains (they are in Eugene) as my boy just joined the Ducks. One thing for sure, change is coming.

Before Tx can join the SEC, they will have to get rid of the cash-cow deal they have in the Big 12. In the SEC, all schools divide the money equally. That cash-cow deal that Tx has had for years is what has caused many of the problems in the Big 12. They’ll make more with the equal SEC payout than they do with the current deal in the Big 12. Payout is expected to be in the $60 million dollar a year range PER SCHOOL on the low side.

They take their beatings; and collect BIG checks. And; once or twice a decade (Missouri) they have a good season. Being in the SEC will help Texas and Oklahoma; and the SEC will put 3-4 teams in the 12 team playoff every year. More $$$ to spread around to the conference members. More visibility for the NIL deals for the players.
Basic economy of scale This is true .... this is exactly correct. ^^^^^^^ See the projected Pods breakout above. Each school c0ukd soon be seeing $65-$90 million dolllar a year payouts with the new conference TV deals and streaming deals that will be cut. CBS is out of the picture so it is wide open for bidding if the new members are added. The SEC Network is already stronger than death and is projected to surpass the mother ship's football season ratings in 2024. That's an incredible thought and coukd only happen with some serious streaming numbers in the future and some really big increases in access fees ... probably in the neighborhood of $10 per household for the package. There's no stopping progress boys. But I'm out. Paying players ... that did it for me. Losing our box seats that we've had for 30 years so they coukd build more corporate luxury boxes. Seat licenses and ticket prices through the roof. We've put the Cockaboose up for sale. We're done. We'll watch some of the games from the comfort of my home on an 80" TV .... but no more going to games and spending $1000s of dollars a season to support the woke spoiled kiddies and administrators and especially the NCAA. F'em all. They've practically ruined the game. Yep. The SEC Network has made some strides In viewership.

Texas probably has a bigger endowment then a few schools combined in the SEC.
They don't have an organized program otherwise they would not be let recruits escape to play football in other states. I think they got a really good HC now if he can stay out of trouble.

Tx football in 2015-2016 yr made $127.8M, with expenses of $28.6M, giving a profit of $99.2M. Now the SEC's split for each school in 2019 was $43.7M. I beleive thats Texas profit from total football operations. The $43 million is just the SEC conference split from bowl games, TV contracts ,etc. Not what the schools bring in individually from ticket sales, concessions, gear sales, Nike type deals, etc. The payout is expected to grow to $65M with new TV deals; and will be more with Tex/Ok in the deal
Big bucks in play; they are not coming for a pay cut, take that to the bank.

I am going to make one comment on this thread and then I shall not return to it. (So, all vituperation directed at me will be wasted.) After long thought and careful consideration of my choice of words to ensure that I am not vague in expressing myself, here is what I have to say: Phuque Texas, Phuque Oklahoma, Phuque the SEC.

According to these numbers, Tx. would have to take a $33 million cut to equal the top (Georgia) SEC team and a $61 million cut to equal the 2nd highest grossing football team in the SEC. These numbers are suppose to be the gross football income for the time period indicated. I'm not saying Tx wont get in the SEC, but they will have to take a pay cut to do so, if things remain the same. Of course, one of the things we can count on is .... things change. The data below covers Fiscal Year 2018, running from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. Without further ado, here is the latest data according to the U.S. Department of Education. This sounds more like dreams swimming in fans' heads than actual reality The SEC still remembers the antics Texas pulled off the last time the SEC raided the Big 12, pulling Texas A&M and Missouri away. The SEC wanted both Texas and Texas A&M. Texas went prima donna, demanding all kinds of special conditions in exchange to access to "their" Texas market. The SEC said, "Thanks, but no thanks!", took Texas A&M and Missouri, and left the deal on the table. Texas then went further and snubbed Texas A&M, cancelling their annual duel, for accepting a better offer. Yet, Texas A&M has only gotten better recruiting through the years. Mighty Texas has faltered, until they recently got Nick Saban as their head coach. Texas A&M has had mediocre teams, for the most part, but the talent they draw plays against the best teams in the nation, with respect to the top 3 sports. Texas has sported some equally mediocre teams, because the Big 12 really has become "Texas/OU+ the others" - like the ancient SWC used to be. That said, Texas talent doesn't play among the best teams nationally until the end of the season. The SEC sports several national contenders every year. Texas A&M hasn't missed the Big 12 nor Texas, and we've increased our recruiting. I know this may step on some toes here, but this ol' Ag isn't seeing the Texas market changing any time soon.
