Having a scope mounting problem for a FN Mauser actioned rifle. Does anyone know who makes a steel rail for the FN Mauser and who makes the lowest 30mm rings for a Picatinny rail? Thanks

Every 30mm pic rings I’ve ever tried were way too high for my taste unless i had a 56mm scope

APA makes a pair .750". Seekins lowest is .82" Ken Farrell is the lowest .735" All are 30mm rings measured base to scope centerline. All are quality rings.

Ken Farrell makes a Pic rail for the FN Mauser, as does EGW. I've used Farrells bases before and their very sound, I've never used any EGW product.

Rails can be nice, but they always seem to significantly add to the height of the scope.

Seekins low are pretty low, American Rifle Company M10 are claimed lower but I have never owned a set. Might be worth checking out.

Lowest 30mm rings are made by Ken Farrell.

Look at the rest of the thread for pictures and weight of Ken Farrell rings.

EGW makes an Aluminum rail for the 98 Mauser.

You might call Ken. He makes one for the FN M, but his rails aren’t typically very low (thin).

Warne makes a low steel rail, but it’s got Weaver width slots. You’d need to open them up to accept most Picatinny rings.

I use Burris Extreme Tactical Signature rings. Buy an extra pack of inserts to custom fit as needed. They are worth any height concession that may have to be made.

I use Ken Farrell Lows but another option that is much lighter and also super low is Recknagel:

https://www.newenglandcustomgun.com/proddetail.php?prod=7870

.001" higher than Ken Farrell's Lows. For all practical purposes, same height.

The ARC x-low are .79". I have a set of their lows and like them a lot. Probably grab another set of them. Love the Seekins too though.

Instead of a rail, consider good, solid two-piece bases like Warne makes. Not all FNs were D&Td from the factory, at least not with four holes, so “standard” one-piece bases don’t always fit. In addition, you’ll have better access to the action and they look better. The Warne front base has two slots, so you still have some flexibility on ring placement.

I keep an eye out for a lower 30mm that may not be as low as a Farrell x low at .735, but lower than a lot of the more popular .820-.840's, but for a lower price than the Farrell. No love so far.
