Are TC Omega 50 cal muzzleloaders of quality repute? I am looking at a stainless steel model.

I love mine. Shoots excellent with both 777 and blackhorn 209 with a variety of bullets. Currently shooting Precision Rifle extreme elite hollow points over the 209. Lights out on whitetails.

My stainless non-fluted Omega was accurate and reliable even in all day rain and sub zero weather. I hunted with it for over 10 years.

Its now a smokeless Omega sporting a smokeless barrel.

My back up is a stainless fluted Omega.

I currently have three in my safe if that tells you anything.

10-4. Picked it up and gonna wring it out in the next week or 2. Got 777 pellets and some Barnes 250 gr. bullets.

I would buy another one if could.

I’ve had mine since they came out. Never had an issue with it and killed several deer with it, and it’s still putting them down.

Cant speak to the .50 as mine is a .45. SS/Syn

110 grains of Triple 7 loose 3f and a Hornady 200gr SST is stupid accurate.

Cheap Nikon Buckmaster 3-9 and good to go. I use it during Muzzleloader season and also during regular deer season in southern Michigan. Longest kill is 207 yards.

Got sick of the plain black stock and painted it with rattle cans. Real bubba job. Deer dont seem to care

The T/C Omega barrels were made on the same tooling as the T/C Encore barrels....enough said.

By the way.....T/C's launch of the Omega ML rifle was the most successful launch of a new rifle "EVER" in the gun industry. The T/C Pro Hunter was number 2.

I have an early special issue Omega with a laminated stock sold by Jerry’s Sport Center, PA. It shoots great with 777 and TC Easy Glide Sabots. Killed quite a few whitetail over the years.

I have several T/C muzzleloders. With a little load development, they ll shoot well.

Never heard anything bad about them. My cousin, who hates all MLs, admits it’s pretty good, and has hung onto it for years.

Makes me wonder why they dumped it and came out with a bunch of others. Margin? Maybe just to keep the churn going, by making folks think they need something new. When used ones show up for sale, they ain’t cheap.

Anyone know of any available for sale? All this talk is making me want one!!

On my stainless/laminate, the trigger sucks and the gun is quite heavy.


Everything I tried shoots exactly the same, 1 1/2-2" at 100.
Which is fine. The weight games recoil. Even 300 bullets over 150gr8 of 777 is decent to shoot.

I forget the weight, but a buddy trying it thought there was a safety on or something. It sucks.

Called T/C. They said to send it back if i wanted, but they performances every trigger before shipping. So it had already proven to be in spec.

Congratulations. I've owned one since around 2013 or so. It's been consistently accurate and reliable.

Mine shoots best with B209 and the 290 gr Barnes blue sabot. I took a 26" 4x4 mule deer last year in Utah at 225 yards. Accurate, great trigger for the price, pretty darn good quality build. Im very happy with mine.

I had one (stainless fluted) that shot great with sabots. But, it was horrible with conicals. Since I use ML primarily in CO, I sent it down the road. But, it was a nice gun and very accurate as long as sabots were being used.

Mine loves 84 grains weighted of Blackhorn 209, Barnes 250 gr. T-EZ with a Harvaster Crushed Rib Sabot. Shot so good I stocked up. 😁

250 grain bullet with 110 to 120 grains by volume of Blackhorn and MMP EZ sabot should get you there.

Omegas might have a tight barrel.

Mine is a Z7 cheapo I bought at WalMart years ago. Killed a bunch of deer with it and still going strong

Yes, nothing wrong with an Omega, great shooters, what I found though is - breech plug has to be on tight otherwise the trigger will not swing/lock back into place.

The best of the closed breech inlines. No contest.
The later models, that have firing pins which can be removed from the rear, are to be preferred for ease of maintenance.
The only fault is the not full length rammer. But it is a minor thing.

Well I am going after an elk tomorrow so we will see how 150 gr. of triple 7 (pellets) and a barnes TMZ 250 grain slug works on the big stuff. I have a buddy that has used his on elk many time and has had great success doing so.

Had mine for about 17 years. Stainless 50 cal. Never had any issues with it. Love it.

How did that work for you?

We went 1 for 2 The TC worked perfectly.
