I like bourbon a lot, but I always keep a bottle of Jameson 12 yr old in the cabinet and enjoy on occasion.

How does Irish whiskey taste compared to Blackjack? Jack and Crown are about all I’ve ever tried. Based on your Jack and Coke preference I wouldn't recommend you go out of your way to try Irish whiskey. If you're conveniently in a situation to try it then go ahead, but you probably won't find it sweet enough. We are going dancing tonight, will try some Irish whiskey for the fun of it

Every Irish whisky I ever tasted was hog piss swill until I got some Bushmills. It's okay. Tullamore Dew tastes like overcooked donkey dung.

Can’t believe i Anytime I'm asked about good Irish I always mention Redbreast and Green Spot, but it is true that neither falls into the inexpensive category the OP asked about. I forgot green spot. I have a dram saved in a bottle i got as a gift two years ago. I vowed i will not finish it until i have a replacement.

I prefer Jameson Black Barrel over any rendition of Redbreast. I like the black barrel but its Irish with the Irish removed, more like a mellow rye Redbreast 12 tops for me with Irish.

Don't waste your time on Proper Twelve, it's just celebrity based bullshit. That sucks because I just bought a bottled. Haven’t opened it yet. Guess I’ll see.

While I prefer bourbon or Tennessee whiskey, I do enjoy Tullamore Dew over Jameson. My personal taste, YMMV.
