We finally have both irrigation pumps going.

Just in time, the corn was hurting.

Haying like crazy trying to keep up with this relentless heat.

Just got home, beer in hand and a ribeye is about to get grilled.

Sam;
Good to hear that sir.

They're hurting big time north of the medicine line wherever it's dry land farmed.

Talk of cutting the beef herd by at least a third because there's no feed up here.

We're on fire and they have no rain.

Good to hear you're keeping going.

Dwayne

Yessir I have. Trot lines in the Buffalo river and bass, bream and sac a lait in Lake Mary. Artonish,,,,that’s some mean fuggers hear tell.

As you know the incessant high water from the river has really messed with the fishing in the lakes in that whole area and for Old River in Pointe Coupee. More and more folks are pulling out but they’re getting buyers for their camps.

I recently bought a camp down here in the Lake Verret watershed area northeast of Morgan City. Really looking forward to splitting my time up between here, the deer camp and my home place.

I looked for over a year and 1/2 before finding this camp and that was through friends and word of mouth. Demand is very high here and about all you can find are camps sitting on leased property. I was able to find this on and I own the property.

Life is good, Brother.

I got reminded of the Raft River Mountains on another thread. The Spring Mountains have been getting some good rain. I know that fall and winter will eventually get here.

Life is good.

Dwayne, there has been a smoky haze here for the last week or so.

It's only July and seems like September.

Bad grass year, bad dryland hay year, bad crop year...

We caught one big thunderstorm but the rain all ran down the creek. No time to soak.

Hope the fires stay away from you brother!

We have two tractors, balers and a swather sitting out in a field 20 miles away, left the keys in em in case of fire.

Some mighty good bass fishing in Buffalo River, when you catch it just right. You have a hard time remembering the limit is 10 fish. Most of the time I fished Artonish, Mr. Martin was running things. $2 to fish there and most times you had it to yourself. After he died, someone leased that area and closed off the better ramp, but the lease only covered about 1/2 the lake. I got permission to launch farther down, had to use a pirogue, and once on the water, you could fish where you wanted to. More than one way to skin a cat!

Never was down around Lake Verret but a few times. I know you'll enjoy the camp.

Your blow boat Ed? Had some good times on a hobie cat we owned for awhile, but nothing any size. Owned a couple CC’s and a 25’ walk around. Only thing we have now is a 15’4” gheenoe for trout fishing the local lakes.

If it weren't for ladies, we'd just be growing either weeds or something to eat.
