Causing the USA to take a Silver Medal while Russia took the Gold ! 🤦🏻♂️

It is shocking news as she is/was the all time superstar of girl's gymnastics. I watched her on Monday night and she made two terrible mistakes. She is having some kind of mental problem, no telling what.

She withdrew because she wasn’t performing at her peak and didn’t want her performance to hurt her teams chance to win a medal. I can’t find any fault with that.

It could well be that she withdrew because she knew she was doing badly, and didn't want to hurt the team's chances. They did replace her with another girl. So much for team competition.
But in a few days comes the premier event of the Olympics, women's individual competition. Nadia Comenichi. Mary Lou Retton. It is the chance for a girl to become very famous, and to get rich with a Wheaties contract etc. It will be interesting to see if Simone competes. At any rate she has been a fantastic athlete for years and was, last year at the top of her game. The flips and spins those girls do are unbelievable.

I remember an Olympics many years ago where a male gymnast (for Japan in the 1976 games I believe) did a routine with a broken leg including the dismount. He stuck the dismount and held it the required length of time and you could see real pain on his face but he held it. He had to complete the routine for the team to qualify for a medal. Compare that to this diva who in my opinion has always been overrated. Her ethnicity, not her talent, lead to her being acclaimed. Period.
