Picked up a new one. Changed out the barrel sights for modern units more conducive to the factory peep. Folding rear barrel sight is cool folded, and cool when lollypop sight is removed. Added a new sling. Hope to bust the cherry soon. 54 caliber 1/65 twist.

I lapped the barrel so it feels pretty slick.
I think lapped barrels shoot better and clean easier.
Lock is pretty difficult to cock. The main spring is like a bear trap, the sparks drop forward of the pan, so I’ll probably send the lock for a tune. I had the shorter Pedersoli Jaeger before and it had a similar flint crushing geometry. I hear this is common.

I just bought one (from Midway) I plan to use for Pennsylvania Flintlock Deer season - anyone have recommended loads/bullets? Can use ball/patch, bullets, sabots etc...
Thanks any other advice would be appreciate - this will be first rifle I've used since my TC Hawken flintlock I've used for 40 years...
