Depends on how much parallax your scope has and how much you move your head. If you adjust ALL the parallax out, doesn't matter. Charlie

"An archer sees how far he can be from a target and still hit it, a bowhunter sees how close he can get before he shoots." It is certainly easy to use that same line of thinking with firearms. -- Unknown

Is it possible that at a hundred yards parallax could throw a "flier" as much as an inch out of a group?

If you bench your rifle in solidly as you can, then wobble your head/eye around to the limits of the eyebox, say on an adjustable AO set on infinity, on anything much above 6X...I'd be surprised if you didn't get at least 1 moa of parallax shift. But if you have a scope with, for instance, the parallax set at 100 yds at the factory, then of course you should not see any crosshair shift at 100. Personally, I have no problems getting frequent fliers regardless of scope or parallax. 1 inch out of a promising group? On a hunting rifle and scope? It's a keeper for my lowered expectations.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I once had Leupold Custom Shot adjust parallax adjusted to 200 yards on a Varmint Scope. On a Big Game Rifle I don’t worry about it as a Parallax Calculator will tell you how much the max shift there is at different yardages. Just FYI a 40mm objective with Parallax adjusted to 100 yards max error at 500 yards is 3.15 inches.

I would spend the money for a parallax adjustable scope before I would have one re-set for 200 or 250 yards. On a rimfire scope especially if used even for informal competition I would pay to have it re-set at 50 yds. You can take some of the parallax out by re-focusing at the longer distance.
