The desert is a true treasure for him who seeks refuge from men and the evil of men. In it is contentment In it is death and all you seek (Quoted from "The Bleeding of the Stone" Ibrahim Al-Koni)
At the time Jimi Hendrix was asked who the best git tar player was.
Jimi said Billy Gibbons
Yep. I remember reading that.
ZZ Top opened a show for him, IIRC. Jimmy Hendrix was apparently impressed.
I’ve got a friend who’s cousin’s of The Vaughan brothers. SRV & Jimmy. Evidently Billy Gibbons and Jimmy Vaughan were big rivals in the early TX Music Scene. Mainly Dallas & Houston. I was told Jimmy Vaughn was extremely jealous of Gibbons. Claimed BG stole “licks” from him. In my opinion, Jimmy Vaughan couldn’t hold a candle to Billy Gibbons.
On the other hand, SRV, though, was the best blues guitar player that ever lived, IMO.
