What are your thoughts on a rimfire can and what is your favorite gun to shoot with the can on?

Good afternoon,

If you'll look down about a dozen threads on the Rimfire page, there's a good suppressor topic from a couple weeks back. Has some good info there.

Based on that info and some additional research, I ordered a Dead Air Mask yesterday. It's not the cheapest can out there, but offers minimal first-round pop and increased ease of cleaning. Those features are valuable to me. My intended hosts are a 16" Clark-barreled 10/22, a S&W Victory handgun, and an 18" barreled Anschutz, all factory-threaded and all in .22LR. Looking forward to some quiet practice days around the house.

Just ordered a Silencer Co. Sparrow. It has great reviews on the net. Will give a range report in about 8 months.

I'm a Dead Air guy myself, I have 2 masks and love them. One does not leave my Ruger 22\45 lite The other one gets other 22 and a 17hmr. I am friends with the owner of Dead Air and he is a stand up guy and stands behind his products to.

Their isn’t any subsonic ammo for a 17HMR so how much benefit is a suppressor?

You don't need sub sonic ammo to make a suppressor work. It makes a 17 hmr alot more quiet on the ears. No hearing protection needed.

Tbac takedown .22. Made in Wyoming. Little to no first round pop FRP. Pretty handy on a tikka t1x or put on an ruger mk or browning buckmark. Buddy has one and im pretty impressed with it. Heard great things about Deadair but no experience. Sparrow is light but i prefer stainless and titanium over aluminum.

I've got 2 Dead Air Masks, too. Excellent cans.

Why does take so long to get a suppressor? I mailed my paper work in and my check was cashed within 5 days, but I was told it would be three months before I could check on the progress.

I run a YHM mite on a S&W MP 22 and a Ruger 10-22 take-down. Nice to be able to plink or squirrel hunt without making a racket.

I've been running a Sparrow on my 17 HMR, 17 Hornet as well as my 22 LR's.

I've got an Amtac Fire Ant and have been really pleased with it.

I'd never heard of them, but a lot of the guys with Vudoo's were having problems with their rifles when running them suppressed in matches.

The guys at Vudoo said they hadn't had any issues with their cans and when people asked them what cans they used, they all said they ran the Fire Ants.

I figured that was an easy decision, so I went that route.

One of the guys I shoot with is waiting on his stamp to come in on a Dead Air Mask. Several other friends all have Ruger supressors.

My plan is to get us all together one day and try each of the cans on the same rifles, back to back, to see the accuracy and sound difference between models.

A friend bought a new Ruger 22/45 this past week so we shot it with a Sparrow to see how it worked. With 40 gr CCIs at a stated velocity of 750 fps, it had to be manually cycled after every round for 30 shots. Literally, every round had to have the bolt to be pulled and another round cycled in to shoot it. We also shot Federal 40 grain at a stated velocity of 1,100 fps and it cycled every shot up to 30 rounds as well just fine.

Do the Rugers just not cycle the low velocity ammo like we experienced or was it due to the gun being brand new?
