Can someone tell me what a customary tip for a boat captain of a charter boat is? We are doing halibut, cod, rock fish and salmon on the ocean

15-20% if they try is my mark. Including deck hand.

Last charter I took was a promotional at 50% cut rate, but the tip made up for it full rate plus as above. They tried. We pretty much struck out, but, hell, it's only a boat ride. Any thing else is golden....

My wife maybe should not have handed me a wad of $ 180 cash for tip without warning me, but that ain't on me....... and I'm not sorry... We broke even with full fare plus tip.

I’ve read the hands get tips and the cap doesn’t. Last party boat I was on (not Alaska) the hands came around with a tip bucket at the end. It looked like pretty slim pickings in the bucket. I threw in 20% of the fare price in tips.
