I got the Remington 788 lined out as far as ejection goes (so far). I took the Burris E1 4.5-14x42 off my dads 7 mag and threw it on there just to shoot the rifle and see what turret caps I could clear. I have been looking at the Argos HMR after a few recommendations on another post (about the meopta optika 5). I am undecided on a 2-12 or 4-20, but I had a quick question...

Can anyone tell me the measurement from the center of the elevation turret to the outside of the capped windage turret (on either magnification model)? The reason I ask, is the 788 ejection clips the edge of the windage turret cap on the E1 and judging by the pictures only, the HMR is pretty similar so I think it should clear or be the same.

Any information is much appreciated and thanks to everyone who gave input on the ejection issue!

Not precise but just a bit over 1.2” using my micrometer on a 2-12x42.
The turret cap itself is 1.29” in diameter, is squared off and sits even with the scope bottom. The turret cap on a FF II 3-9x40 measured .977” and tapers in slightly. Don’t know how similar they are to the E1 4.5-14x42. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info! I’ll do some measuring tonight. The cape on the E1 flare I guess you would say on the ends. There is no taper to them so I’m thinking it should be similar
