Optics to my eyes are the same as numerous VX-2 that I have, extertior is more tactical looking, not as sleek as the VX-2.
No downside that I can see except for looks.

Do the low end Leupolds still have friction adjustable turrets, rather than click adjustable?

Their website says they are click adjustable.

To my limited knowledge, the last friction erectors Leupold offered were on the old Vari-X II. However, I could be wrong.
For the record, I would never own another friction erector scope! I hate them with a passion.

They are click adjust. The MOA ones I've handled have awful mushy clicks, but the few MIL ones I've had (still have 1) have great clicks.

Optics appear fine. I have 5: 2 2-7x33's, 1 3-9x40, 2 4-12x40. One thing to watch out for--the optic bell is longer than the bell on the VX 2's and 3's and can be a problem on some standard-spaced scope rings. Cant get the scope as far forward as the earlier ones because the bell impinges on the base. .

Mushy click adjustments on the ones I have tried. About like the VX-1 and Redfield Revolution from a few years ago. They seem to stay put once zeroed though. I don’t care for the higher squared off turrets but know that the fashion these days.
Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.

Do the low end Leupolds still have friction adjustable turrets, rather than click adjustable? I'm pretty sure Leupold abandoned all friction adjustments long ago.
