For me, it's my 1949 winchester model 52B:

How many rimfire rifles have you shot and thought, "this is a quality piece of equipment"? You may get that with the new Vudoo's and other upper echelon manufactures, but this thing is 72 years old!!!. Which one would you keep, if you sold all the rest?

I have a Remington 511-x I got in payment for chopping corn out of bean fields in 1972. (I was 12) Just refinished it for the 4th (maybe 5th) time.

Marlin 15Y.

I taught my kids safe firearm handling, and how to hit, with only one shot.

And my first ever rifle. Browning BL22

And my dads Savage click-clack semiautomatic.

And my Uncle’s Winchester 1906.

I do have some I will sell someday, but not these.

Not sure I have one, except maybe the 581 I got for Christmas in 1967, not that it’s any wonder-rifle, and certainly not because of its value.

I have a few other nice ones, but with no sentimental value as yet. Tomorrow, a nice older 39A is supposed to land at my FFL. Maybe it’ll be the one.

Savage Rascal. I'd take it over my Anschutz 54, 10-22 rifles, AR-conversion, Charger, and pistols. And I like all those others a bunch, and plus some others. I like how light, compact, and simple the Rascal is. We shoot CB Long, Colibri, CCI Quiet, and occasionally standard and high velocity ammo. For what it is, it's extremely accurate with just peep sight.

I know that I am probably in the minority, and actually value accurate/precise rifles as well as family "heirlooms", but I'm a sucker for the simplicity and need to judge holdover when shooting those slow rounds. I've had more fun with that Rascal, especially with my kids, than all my other firearms combined. And no hearing protection, with the quieter loads.

Smith and Wesson Model 34 with square butt and 4 inch barrel. Even have a Tyler T grip on it. Anshutz 22 mag model 1720 shoots great. Have kept a Winchester 190 my whole life as it was the second gun I ever bought. The 190 is fun to shoot but not that Accurate. I also have a Weatherby 22 auto loader with tube magazine. It shoots great and hard to find with the tube magazine. So 4 I would hate to sell.

I have about a dozen 22 rifles & like them all for various reasons. But the one I'd have to keep probably has the least personality, & no nostalgia. A Ruger 77/22. It's my workhorse. Stainless synthetic with sights & rings. A 2-7 Weaver rounds it out.

Awfully hard to say. Probably my Ballard with Stevens-Pope barrel for shear pizazz, or my 1950-vintage BSA International for shear utter accuracy. The as-issued M2 is another one whose whimpering would give me pause if I passed on it.

None of the current crop of .22's so much as turn my eye, especially the plastic ones. I really don't care how well they shoot - they lack soul.

Plain old 1968 vintage Ruger 10/22 carbine, that's when they came with a walnut stock and metal buttplate and trigger group. It was my companion through high school, college and beyond and still wears the same Williams Foolproof peep sight I first put on it some 53 years ago. It doesn't get shot nearly as much as it used to but it and my Remington 1100 shotgun will be with me until the day my journey here ends.

My Cooper 17 HMR will stay with me forever.

It's a Super American with a fluted stainless barrel, and a Leupold 3.5X10 A. O. scope.

It's the finest rifle I've ever owned, and will go to my Daughter when I pass on.

Beautiful Ballard, very impressive rifle and shooting.
