Looking for interest and pricing on a beautiful Remington Mountain Rifle in 280 Rem with a DM. The rifle has a wood stock and matte black metal finish. It is at least 98 percent condition and has a picatinny rail installed. I'm definitely winding down. Thanks. donsm70

That won’t last long. Gonna guess Over $1K. Mountain Rifles and Classics are bringing crazy money right now!
And a great Fire Member to deal with too !

Don--I recently sold a NIB 260 MR with magazine for $1K plus $50 shipping. It took awhile to sell, I hope this helps.

Always liked Remington Mountain Rifles and 280 is always a favorite.
Its not always easy to do the right thing, But it is always the right thing to do.

I think the 257 & 7x57 hold the top tier pricing for the mountain rifles with 260 & 280 nipping on their heels. I got my 257 for $925 7 or 8 years ago. Wanted a 7x57 after that but the going rate was $900-1100 and the low mileage ones weren’t holding a for sale sign for long.
I would have said $800-1000 for your 280 with a 98% example at the upper limit, but if chlinstructor is seeing them for $1000+ maybe it’s again the model de jour or Remington’s shaky future is pushing up their historically best offerings.
Mountain rifles and older wingmasters are the best things Remington ever made IMO...and probably a few others if I stopped to think on it. 😉

I had one in .30-06, the first year that they produced them. I believe that it was 1986-87. I have a collection of Remington catalogs dating back to 1983, I'll have to go back and check thru them, but I believe that I am right about the first run date, awesome rifles.

And a great Fire Member to deal with too ! Dont forget Varmint Specials along with Classics and Mountian Rifles. When Remington introduced the Mountian Rifles back in the 80's i ordered one of the 1st 280's built. Toted it in Colorado on several hunts, Let my buddy talk me out of it and im still asking myself why.

I'm going to put this back in the safe. I'm afraid I paid too much for it. Thanks for all the input. donsm70

Best firearm Rem. ever made IMO was the 31 TC. And most of you won't have a clue what I'm Talking about.
