I have a excellent Steyr rifle in 376 that I only used to shoot an eland. I will never be able to return to Africa due to my age & physical condition. The barrel is ported & I have a Leupold scope mounted. Ammo is not an issue since I have 5 boxes of factory ammo, 2 -boxes of 50 pieces of brass, & a box of 300g bullets. Do you think this rifle would sell if I listed in the classified here or Gunbroker. The Leupold scope is just a 6X42. Any guess at value. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Non factory porting might hurt value? Not a ton of interest in these IME, and my guess is $650-$750 without the scope, maybe an extra $100 with it. I’d split the scope and probably at least the brass and bullets and sell them separately. My guess is it will take a while to get top dollar. $600-$650 would probably sell faster than $750.
I own one and wouldn’t sell it. 225’s make a hell of a deer rifle.

Been debating about selling especially at the price Jim suggested. In as new condition. Porting reduces muzzle lift & recoil is not bad at all. I have about 5 boxes of factory ammo, 2 boxes of unprimed brass , a box of bullets, & some once fired brass. Contact me & let's discuss price. Email tedgrinergmail.com. Thanks.

Porting also causes noise and blast. IMHO that causes flinch.

Can't see any reason to prefer this cartridge over the .375H&H and ammo is harder to find. .375 H&H recoil is not bad either (with no porting off the bench).

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

I find porting to only have a slight increase in noise & allows one to stay on target if a follow up shot is required. Agree a muzzle brake is quite loud. The 375H&H is indeed a time honored classis.
Jeff Cooper developed the 376 Steyr in his scout rifle concept that became the darling of the gun writers, for a short time then died. My rifle is a synthetic stocked conventional rifle with a short barrel. I found it handy in Africa when stalking & shooting a big eland. I found the 376 Steyr a dream to handload. Great for whitetails or muledeers, elk at medium range, moose, & dangerous game in Africa with the right bullets. I wouldn't be selling but I'm 80 & will health issues & retired my expensive guided hunt days are over. I still own many rifles & live on a big lake & do a lot of fishing.
Good hunting.

TBear47 good luck with the sale. I have that rifle with no ports. It has better manners than I thought it would. Just not as much snort and kick. Be Well, RZ.

For you Texas hunters, TBear's rifle would make a heck of a Nilgai rifle IMO (and I have no experience with Nilgai, so my opinion probably counts for little).
