Just wondering how you all think the quality of Cimarron replicas compares to Uberti.
Opinions, please.

I own a Cimarron but not a Uberti. I do own a Ruger Vaquero though. As far as I know the Cimarron is just a somewhat reworked Uberti. I like my Cimarron, it functions nicely, it's tight, and shots well. The Cimarron is very much a true SAA as far as it has a firing pin and not a transfer bar like all Ruger revolvers. It has a half cock Cylinder release for loading and unloading whereas the Vaquero has the cylinder release by opening the loading gate. I'm happy with both these guns but I like the Cimarron just a little more. It just feels better in my hand.

I'm waiting for a Cimarron Model P in 44 Special 4 3/4" to arrive right now. Watched Hickock45 shoot a Cimarron and he gave good reviews in sxs comparison to a Colt SAA.
Also getting a 3rd gen Colt 5 1/2" 44spl. Will be interesting shooting both guns.

It seems like the Cimarron's spend more time in the polishing room!

I'm not sure on this, but, isn't Uberti and Pietta the only Italian replica 1873 manufactures? All others are importers. I'm kinda new to this, so, I am not 100% certain. Someone will be along shortly, I'm sure.

Yes, Cimarron is an importer with their own specifications and standards. 1873 replicas are not the only guns they import.

My experience has been Cimarron's are top-shelf. Uberti's, Taylor's, Allen's, etc. can be just as good, but sometimes aren't. I think the better fit, smoothness and polishing, etc. of the Cimarron's are more consistent. IMO if you have to go by name then get a Cimarron. If you are looking at individual guns and know something, then just examine them and you'll probably get one just as good as a Cimarron.

OP could check on the Uberti/Taylor's. These are very nice replicas. I have a tuned one in .45 Colt that is the smoothest SA I've shot.

Just picked up a Cimarron 1873 short rifle a few days ago and put my first 50 rounds through it this afternoon. Overall I'm very happy with it so far. Fit and finish is very nice, the trigger is a hair stiffer than I'd prefer, but not bad by any means (haven't used a break scale on it yet, but I'd figure around 5#). The action is pretty smooth, no feed or ejection hiccups.

I didn't shoot groups with it, but had no problems dinging a plate with it from 40 yards. I like the sights, the rear gives you a pretty wide field of view. I did hit the tip of the front sight with a bit of white paint when I got home, though. My eyes aren't what they used to be, so I like white bead fronts.

*added* It is a Uberti made rifle... came in a Uberti box with both Uberti and Cimarron booklets and warranty papers inside.
