Ever get a chance to go there, it's worth it.
But it's in an [bleep] of th e world spot.
Nothing else there. Really, nothing.
Some primitive camping is available, motels are a good ways off.
And traffic blows.

there were 30 plus in there this morning. One mature bull, a couple 4 points and at least one spike.

rong... At 8:02 I was viewing the 4 bulls grazing peacefully, I minized the page to post here on the Campfire and I heard the antlers clacking, I screwed up the post forgot to hit post below, went back to web cam and the fighting was over, shucks !!! and the lone bull was smelling the tree in front of him. He then walks off slowly... by 8:19pm it was all over, nothing was in the field. Have to be on at the right time to see the action. As mid Sept comes, the rut heats up & sometimes before, and the fighting & bugling begins. Tonight they were playing ! Enjoy Campfire members ! HH

Rong I was on at 6:30am and 7:30am... Yes it was foggy up there but I saw nothing. I thought with the nice cool down they might be more active especially in the morning. I was wrong... at least now. 7:30pm in the evening seems to be the magic hour right now, but when the Rut is on it can start earlier, as early as 4:00pm or anytime at peak rut. Sept 18 has been my favorite time ! : ) Enjoy ! *** In Colo... archery elk started on 9/2/21 GO to www.bowsite.com/ state forums to see threads on archery kills in Colorado or see the elk icon to see archery elk threads in all states. A great bowhunting web site. HH

6:15pm 9/5/21 Nice bull eating apples back inside the trees...camera operator has him pretty visible though. Rong on bowsite.com 1 bull from Nebraska and 1 from New Mexico being shown so far. You can look at all elk killed under the thread 2021 meatpole ... or you can go to all the different states in a drop down offering bowhunting elk and see them like that state by state. There is the Big Game forums elk or the state forums... discussing all things bowhunting Rong it is an excellent source of information and advice and pleasure. funny thing is I have not seen any cows on this camera in almost a month. All I'm seeing is bulls, and this isn't the only mature bull up there.

Hunter Shooter 58: Thanks but B bassi is offering the the nice photo shoots of the Pa streaming web cam at Benezette and the Pa Game Comm is the one to thank for the streaming web cams. Me... I am just a lover of the Outdoors and the beauty of wildlife... and I am a hunter. : ) I have visited Benezette Pa many time since 1996, but it is a 180 mile trip from my home, so nice to view the elk on a streaming web cam. I believe this field we watch here is below the new Elk County Visitor's Center. The newer visitors museum is quite the place to visit in mid Sept to see the elk in the nearby fields and along Winslow Hill. HH.

West Springfield, Near Albion!

My Father in Law built the Cabin in the early 50's, and we've added property ever since!

Near State Game Lands 101!

It's nice cuz it's only 83 miles from my house, so 1 1/2 hour drive usually!

Anyone not seeing elk on the camera.

It's a dawn and dusk hunt.

If you aren't watching in the hour before or after dark, your not seeing
much of the show. Same with visiting mostly. If you aren't going to be there
in the dark, you're gonna miss it.

It's what sucks for us. Close to 2 hours away, so it's impossible to buzz
up on a Friday after work. And it blows big time to try and get up early
enough to drive 2 hours to be there before dawn.

So, a motel in Clearfield.
And still a decent ride in the AM.

Might do it again this fall.
It's expensive to look at elk for an hour.
But it's a cheap outing.

Dillionbuck; Yep that is how it goes if you have a long drive to see the elk, get a motel and enjoy a long week-end up there
Sept seems like hotels motels are pretty full, lots of events taking place up there in the Dubois area. There are camping areas also.

Yes, it is a drive from Dubois to the elk viewing areas. maybe...one hour plus. You might see elk as you drive along RT 555, I have many times.

Medix Run is also a good elk viewing area, sometimes right near the cabins. But seems like Benezette area & Winslow Hill area is best normally.

The Elk County Visitor musuem is up on Winslow Hill and some more Elk viewing spots on that road. Be respectful of home owners there along the road. The elk will be in their yards and farm fields.

As the Rut comes on stronger you may catch them out a few hours before sunset.. maybe as early as 4:30-5:00pm but usually a hour before sunset.

If you get off the roads... back into the fields & woods bordering each other along the creeks, you may see them earlier during the daylight hours. Enjoy ! HH

You can also continue up 555 to Driftwood. Nice bar/restaurant there. Then turn right ( east ) on rt 120 and continue to Sinnamahoning. Nice drive and there's usually elk to be seen.

Teeder is correct, the drive along Rt 555 to Sinnamahoning is scenic beautiful drive. Especially pretty in the fall color and with a early snowfall in bear & deer season. Sinnamahonig is where I took my bear to the bear check station 1976. Yep I am old ! One of the best days of my young life... 28 then. : )

If you continue on down 120 to Cooks Run, this side of Kettle Creek, that's where we've hunted bears for many years.

I can't get it to move this morning. So far this season I've only seen elk once. I've seen quite a few deer and some turkeys. I don't spend much time watching it, though.

Rock Chuck: I have had that happen also other times, seems like camera operator is on a break, maybe the internet connection is not strong to camera. That bull this morning was not there after I posted and went back, like 3 min and gone. I once saw 27 elk move through the field 2 years ago with big herd bull. That only lasted about 8 min, it was mid Oct, a cooler light rain day in Benzette around 2:30pm, which surpised me with that time. Got to be on at the right time, right day. People have seen bears here, I have never seen a bear on the cams here. Enjoy 24Hr Campfire members. HH

21:22 or 9:22pm 9/10/21 Huge bull on web cam. ! I had seen two bulls a little earlier, one I believe was this big one. I also saw a coyote around 5:30pm, he ran off after eating something, a field mouse perhaps, then came back. But... this bull is a 7x7 at least. Trophy bull ! Enjoy, HH

It was a good day !

HH,
Glad that you got to see them!

I was looking earlier last night, and didn't see anything, and nothing earlier this morning, with the exception of a Doe!

I did see a few deer go through the Yard this morning, out my office Window, but that's a regular Luxurious occurrence!

Yeah! We've been Blessed!

Right now there's nothing there and I can hear what sounds like people talking loudly. It's not the first time this year either. IDK about others but this year's sightings seem to be way down.

They say everything happens for a reason.
For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

I'm wondering if Wardens were checking their Cams, or just looking around?
Also, wondering, if you had some kind of electrical interference, like I get sometimes on my Home Security Cam!

Hoping not a lot of people go there now, for OUR selfish viewing! LOL!

Elk, like the Deer don't like a lot of Company, usually!

Yeah, I know that there's exceptions!

Nothing for me last night and this morning!

Hunter Shooter and streaming Elk cam viewers: It has been my experience when actually in Benezette Pa up on Winslow Hill, that the elk when in full Rut, do NOT care if folks are nearby, they are so accustomed to folks and the Rut has their mind totally preoccupied with SEX & MATING, that they don't care, especially in Benezette at that time, mid to late Sept. I had a big 4x8 bull walk right by the little movie theatre that the Pa Game Comm used to show movies in, there were 30+ people watching that movie as he walked by 20 yds away from the structure and folks, then raking a sapling. I saw a 5x5 with 50 people around up continue to trash a sapling as a young girl walked towards him with a apple at her dad's coaching : ( foolish ! And as I once stood by a roadside berm at a farm on Winslow Hill...l called a big bull off the hill with my bugle call, he charged off the hill and stood there looking at me offering my challenges. Might not have been a smart thing then ! : ) During the Rut... they seem unaffected by our presence and accept us watching them. But they can still be agressive with out notice... be cautious ! You will get some great photos and videos then. I also have heard folks voices in the later afternoon on the streaming elk cam, I believe this viewing field, may be below the Elk County Visitors musuem, and folks walk down there. Just a guess. The museum is a cool place, visit it if you have time. HH

1:11am 9/16/21 Heard one bugle at 1:09am , the lighting is so bad at night... have not seen him yet. Last few days I have been on many times and have not seen any critters any time, did hear one though. The magical time is near in my experience... keep looking especially after 6:00pm. HH

HS 58: Yes a little dissapointing this year ! 24 Hour Campfire members... I am posting a You tube video from Oct 2014 by CE Potavpo video credit from Winslow Hill area near Benezette Pa community where this elk viewing field is. I believe it is below the Elk County Vistors museum, but enjoy this well made video while the elk on this 2021 streaming cam decide to come out for you. : ) HH

7:31 pm 9/23/21 Colder and overcast today up there Just saw 2 does intently watching an animal under thr apple tree, looks like a raccoon... maybe a fox, but the deer did not like him, closely watching him, then blowing and taking off. Really thought the colder weather would get the elk going ! HH

Still a little foggy.

The Bull is in the middle of the field with two Cows, and another Bull or two are Bugling near by in the Woods.

Need HH to go clean the Lens! LOL!

HH,
No way is the rut Peaking! I can Hear Bulls Raking, and Bugling, and we are not seeing the Bulls, with their Her-rums yet!
The Bulls are still in their chasing, ritual, stage, and are still working on dominance in their area.
Hence the Bugling, and we should start to see them fighting, very soon in the fields!

Beginning to Mid Rut, in my opinion, but, not Peaking yet, maybe close!

That Bull was in the middle of the field, with two uninterested, and probably not ready, Cows!

Still Very enjoyable!

HS 58: Your observations are well stated and accurate. I was reflecting on my own experiences there in the past, and that of locals up there, whom I have chatted with when coming up in October. They said I had missed it, but there is still 6 days in Sept.. perhaps I was premature in my thoughts.

There are so many more locations to see the elk displaying there rutting behavior, perhaps we are missing some of that activity with only viewing it here, as we are seeing a very limited area of Winslow Hill on the streaming cam.

I hope HS 58 is correct, and we see more rutting activity. . Enjoy viewers ! HH

24 Hour Campfire: While waiting for the Pa elk, view this 2 min video from Glacier NP, Montana, and view Logan's pass... two most popular hiking trails there, the Hidden lake trail and the Highline trail. On these hikes you should see many mountain goats and bighorn rams, and if lucky a grizzly on the Highline Trail. You will be amazed at the opportunity to see mountain wildlife up close... but keep a safe distance ( at least 25 feet for sheep & goats) as they are still wild and unpredictable. But sometime you will be unable to keep that safe distance, at least I did, but try...especially with grizzlies... 100 yds. You tube will have some great videos on hiking in the park.

https://www.nps.gov/media/video/vie...gn=experience_more&utm_content=small

Here is a 7 min video that will show you 6 hikes in Glacier NP, just to give you a taste of what you can and may see there. Enjoy ! HH

A nicer small buck, and a couple does!

I'm wondering what's planted in the field, besides clover?

It looks a little on the coarse side!

Wondering if the Game Commission planted a certain kind of feed grass, or maybe some sort of Brasicus in the field.

Cant tell!

7:38pm now 9/30/21 The big bull layed with the 2 cows for 16 min, listening to distant challenges, then got up and just walked off... and down the road to behind the apple tree grove, 3 does were near there feeding also, a single doe came trotting up to them, the big bull was hanging up behind the thick apple trees, and them my computer got to hot and shut down, loosing my connection. Did anyone else see this ??? HH

Rong : I just got lucky tonight to see him. I have been on many mornings and evenings, all better times to see them, and have only been seeing a few deer recently. I seldom see a elk walk the road, but this fellow took a long walk in and back out when he left the two cows. Keep the faith...they do pop up and appear at times. HH

7:09 am 10/1/21 Big Bull just walked down the road, in the left side field now . 4 deer where out in the field already feeding As I turned on the Cam, I heard a bull bugling at 7:02 am but never saw him. This cooler weather always bumps up the activity of the elk it seems.

7:20am the big bull is back in the field just walking through approaching the apple grove, then at 7:23am he is on the road walking away from the camera's view into the fog. 7:30am crows are cawing, but only distant bugles are heard. Nice morning viewing ! Hope some of you viewers saw it also. : )

Check out Youtube for a lot of great elk hunting videos from Idaho. I just spent 2 hours in Idaho elk hunting on You Tube with Top Priority. HH

18:53 10/1/21 Three does by apple trees. 18:56 2 bucks feeding also. Seems like they are getting a little different camera view of things this evening closer to and behind the floodlight pole, where the two bucks came from. HH

No Bugling heard at this time!

Still a little Foggy.

Yeah, 6;23, still there!

Pretty Cool!

Another Bull entered the field, and Bugled, @6;27,
The first Bull looked back, and then got up at 6;29,
Both are feeding, and the second bull is bugling a second time,6;32, a few deer moved into the field!

A 3 rd bugle, and I feel slowly that a scuffle will break out!

As 2 cows came into the field, the 2 nd Bull chased them, and Bugled several times, and then chased the smaller of the 2- 6X6 Bulls away!
6;40, evidently the cows aren't ready.

The Big dog,(Bull), came in and chased the two 6X6 Bulls away!

He's at least a big 6X6, or bigger! 6:46

He's chasing the 2 cows around and out of the field, as they chirp!

They're all in the woods now, as you can still hear them. 6:52

7:18pm 10/3/21 At 7:04pm there was quite a impressive bull on the field. His left antler had numerous points coming off above his 4th point ( G4) I believe. At least 4 branching points after the G4. On the field were also 2 cows and 2 deer. He actually chased the cows off the far field as he approached them once. Soon they all were content to feed together. I saw no challenging bulls then, and all just feed happily. HH

HH,
Pretty sure that's the Big Bull that I saw the other night!
I'm thinking that he's trying to get his Herr-um together, except their
not real interested.
He sniffed them both and they just kinda were moving away from him, as apparently their
not ready.

Nice Bull though!

6;44pm 10/6/21 I like this camera operator as he scans all the field quickly searching for critters, then focuses on real sightings. A little 8pt buck on camera now but... NO ELK . : ( But they will come hopefully. : ) Got back on and saw a raghorn lying in the field around 9:15pm. HH

5:27 I Can hear some Bugling in the distance.
A small buck in the field, to the right by itself, as a descent size cow Elk is coming to the field from the extreme right of the camera angle,
and she keeps looking behind her!

A bull came out of the woods on the left, from across the road, a nice 6X6,
But not the Big Bull that we've seen in the past.

The very tip of the main beams, (theG7'S) have split off creating small forks!
creating, small "Whale Tails" . 5:43

5:50 4 Cows now, the small buck is gone, and a larger Bull is with the Cows, and he's the one doing the Bugling!
Hard to see as they're partially blocked by the tree holding the Camera, at it's right, and almost behind the Cam!

6:00 The Larger Bull, 6X6, is gonna challenge the other Bull, as they're now feeding together on the left!
Just to Clarify, he's not that much Bigger!

Looks like no challenge, as the smaller one turned his back, and Bed down, about 15 yds. apart.

There's now 6 cows, cows, on the right, side of the Cam!

With a 3 rd Bull entering on the left!
A Wide Rack, 7X7, With a gash on his upper right side of his neck, from fighting!
He's joined the Cows as some are bedding.
7 cows now 6:10
He even raked his rack in the feed grass!
One of the other Bulls left!

6:30 Don't think the 8 Cows are ready, as he keeps trying!

He keeps teasing the 2 nd Bull from a distance but I don't think he wants anything to do with him!

With a ll hid Battle scars on top of his back, I think he's pretty much established his territory,
until a Bigger Bull shows up!

21:04 pm 10/7/21 Looks like I missed all the earlier evening action. At 21:03 I see the camera guys focusing on 3 tree trunks on the left field, then I see it, glowing eyes and a grey shadow of movement, their are elk hiding back in the tree line. Looks like cows or cow elk from the sketchy face I see. Happy HS 58 and rong and other members saw the elk activity earlier ! HH

I turned it on about 1/2 hour ago 23:18. The camera's been stuck on a bedded down spike the entire time. It hasn't moved.

5:37am 10/8/21 Wow... a reunion on the field. 9 different elk there, 1 bull, 3 cows on their feet, 5 lying down. All peaceful and just kicking back and enjoying elk life. : ) The ones standing were starring into the woods intently. The bull seems unconcerned. Hard to tell how big he was... with the night lighting.

Stayed on until 6:02am, nothing was happening in that time. The bull drifted out of sight... tiring of his harem not giving him any love. : ) HH

The Pixcam is still up. Use the this address: http://pixcams.com/elk/cam1.htm. When you get to the site, if no elk are there, go to the bottom right and click on the Pixcam logo. Then click the PA camera 2. For some reason there seem to be more elk at this location. Good viewing.
