Same here looking for cooler weather. And the ticks are still out, found one crawling on my leg the other afternoon. I hate ticks.

This one was the size of a flea which is what I thought it was at first I've never seen a tick in northern Michigan in October before.

Treating one’s clothing and boots, along with your pack with permethrin spray will keep the little bastards off; it actually kills them if they get on you. I’ve not had a single one on me since I began using it a few years ago. They remain active here pretty much year-round. If you sit on the ground or handle a deer with them on it, they will find you.

Have always bought the Sawyers brand, but recently went with a gallon jug of multi-use (including clothing) that was a lot cheaper. A treatment lasts about six weeks or six launderings.

A tick bite can really mess up your life. The Lone Star tick is expanding its territory and one consequence of a bite can be an intolerance for red meat. My vet had that, and though it usually gets better, it ain’t what a feller with a freezer full of venison needs.

FWIW, the doe I killed a couple of weeks ago was tick-free, unusual here.

Good luck this season. This is a fun thread to follow every year. Especially nice to see your trail cam pix versus what I get on mine.

First sit of the season yesterday afternoon...I didn't hunt the new stand I set up near the big deer I'll now just call Hoss
Had some good activity on my trail cameras near spot I chose to sit on this other property
Saw 2 doe on neighboring property and nothing else came through but at around 6 pm camera went off and there is Hoss he came in front of camera and walked right towards my stand, the direction he approached from would have be good with the wind I had yesterday....and so the cat and mouse begins! I skipped going out this morning as I want to hunt Hoss in the new stand in the afternoon
Truth be told after I saw him come through again yesterday I asked myself why am I even hunting here I need to give Hoss the old college try

Pictures from a carded camera next to stand I sat yesterday afternoon

Well was an exciting afternoon hunt I had Hoss 40 yds from me but no shot
Saw 6 different buck and 2 doe
Hoss came out following 3 smaller buck but they came out behind my camera and just out of reach ,actually I could have killed the 1st two buck but the 3rd one and Hoss had brush obstructing them
Wind should be right tomorrow afternoon again so I will hunt that stand again
Great fun all in all!

Did not hunt yesterday and likely not today temps have warmed and wind isn't right. It's not quite time to put the full press on but very soon
