You're right to a point, but don't just dismiss these deaths as non-events. Covid killed, yes killed as in "filled up the lungs", of my step mother, my aunt, my first cousin, and at least three friends that all had other issues. It might be true that had they all been 30 and healthy, they would have survived, but they weren't and they are now dead. I know one thing for sure that had this stuff never escaped from Wuhan, China, all of them would be alive today. None of them were at death's door before the virus. What do you tell your mom? "Hey, you're over 80 and have controlled diabetes so it sux to be you?"

Damn, Hat.
Very sorry to hear this, Man.

Thanks. It sux. OTOH, my immediate family skated through with no complications so far. My two life long best friends and their wives went to Vegas for a week (dumbasses) and all came home with it. One spent 7 days in the hospital and without treatment may have had a "bad" outcome. He's ok now. Rest of that crew did ok on the hydroxy. This is the oddity of this virus. Many have very mild symptoms, but if it gets you good, you have a problem.
If her Diabetes is "controlled" then it should not be an issue as long as her COVID meds don't interfere with whatever she takes to control her Diabetes. Assuming all else is well, then she is "only" left with age being her primary obstacle to a full recovery, should she get the disease.

Old folks routinely die of illnesses which are nothing to younger people. Colds...the flu...easily turn into Pneumonia in the elderly, vaunted "comorbidities" aside. If you look at a group of people...let's say famous people like actors. People who probably have access to very good, if not the best, healthcare and the ability to pay for it, you'd be surprised at the number of old ones whose cod was Pneumonia.

Best wishes to your mother and prayers for her.

I'm curious how many had cold symptoms, think they had covid, but never got tested? From reading most of this thread, many say they were mildly sick, and recovered. Were those tested, or just assuming they had covid, and had a cold or simple flu! Asking because I think the wife and I had it in December of 2019. We have never been tested.

You reckon vaccinations of personnel had anything to do with that?

How, exactly, does one quarantine a person who needs daily care and assistance ? (Rhetorical question, Raeford).

So Old Toot, did you get the "jab" yet?

I think the loss of taste and smell was the "proof" enough for me to get tested. I got the "long" test and 2 days later received an email with the positive result. I've never loss that much sense of smell and taste. Made myself eat when I didn't want to. Lots of fresh yard eggs and meat.

Not yet, bro.
Went through it for a month or so and with no symptoms at all and my doc said to hold off on the vaccinations and that his nurse would get back to me if he felt that anything had changed. They’ve been good over the years with reminders and suggestions.

His ‘prescription ‘ was to keep on keeping on and steady as she goes until further notice.

He did say that worse stuff coming down the line was expected by the medical community at large.

We’ll see what we see, O.O.

Big momma, I don’t do Facebook but you do.

There’s a Facebook webpage that’s supposedly pretty nice called (I think) “Loving Lake Verret “.

Have a look.

Yes, but they had way over twice as many deaths per 100,000 than Norway ,Finland or Denmark. Who locked down more less . I,d much rather live in Norway , Finland Or Denmark.

Sweden has been a death trap.

Well, aren't we selective. Did you compare the "deathtrap" that is Sweden to the Netherlands or Belgium, or how about Japan where they can lock down the whole island chain? How about Romania or Canada? Of course not because you want troll, but I'll help you out.

"Deathtrap" Sweden 1.1million cases 14,500 deaths

Belgium 1.1 million cases 25,000 deaths (How's that for a "deathtrap"?/)

Netherlands 1.9 Million cases, 18,000 deaths

Japan 1.3 million cases 15,631 deaths

Canada 1.4 million cases 27,000 deaths

Romania 1 million cases 34,000 deaths

So, you want to talk about "deathtrap"?? How about you talk about the fact that Norway, Finland and Denmark do not report covid cases and covid mortality in the same manner as these other countries? Go ahead, go look into and get back to me. Interesting that those countries you cherry picked are the outliers. Nowhere else that has a sizable population can claim those numbers. Of course not, when they use different criteria for their reporting.

I know about a couple dozen people who got it, 65 to 1 year old. Some close family. None of then were hospitalized. A couple of the older ones said it was pretty rough.

Death rates are completely meaningless without breaking people into age and comorbidity cohorts. That is the only meaningful way to make rational choices.

Yes, and that assumes straight stats to begin with, which we don't have here. We have absolutely no idea what infection rates are, let alone death rates, because the most common test is not reliable in the least. 60% or so accuracy, is a bit better than a coin flip. A bit. Then you have the fact that it doesn't distinguish between COVID and the flu. Further, you have all these doctors and other healthcare professionals talking about the Delta variant, which they have absolutely no way to identify from the regular variant, which usually hasn't been identified itself!

Stats in the wrong hands are dangerous and this whole goatf u ck rodeo of the last two years, proves it.
