I'm having trouble why the craze over a 6.5mm.

There are a lot flatter shooting and more potent calibers....
Surely you guys didn't fall head over heels because of the name 6.5.Creedmore.

7mm mag stomps the 6.5 Creedmores azz in its sleep....along with lots of other calibers

Fill me in....make me see the Creedmoor light.

It’s the most downrange for the least at the shoulder, and in a factory package that was pretty well sorted from the get-go, for medium-game and targets (which is mostly what Joe Average shoots at). Does many things well, without a lot of headache, much like a Glock 19 or a Honda Rancher. There’s bigger and more potent options out there, but most folks have an idea of a sweet spot for their needs (benefits vs. costs).

Not sure what a "Creedmore" is. I know what a 6.5 "Creedmoor" is

Nothing bad to say about a Honda 4 wheeler....except 3 wheels was more fun to ride.

I thought the 6.5 Creedmoor craze came out of the benchrest circle....nothing about its performance with different bullet weights or its velosity excites me.

When hunting no one pays much mind to recoil...I can see where the Creedmoor could shine as a womens gun.

I have a 25.06 and a 260 so i personally never saw the need for the 6.5 Creedmore or the desire to own one. I'm sure it's a fine caliber and several guys around here shoot them and like them. The 25.06 and 260 can do everything the 6.5 Creedmore can do and more. All this of course is just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions .... everybody has one .

I know Gun manufacturers need to come out with new calibers to keep sales up....never saw the need for the 260. Maybe if they had named it the 260 Creedmoor it would've took off.

Never saw it as a caliber/cartridge that I 'just had to have'

The creedmoor was designed first and foremost as a target cartridge. It was developed from the 30TC which basically died as soon as it started, but the 30TC has its roots in the 308win. The TC case was utilized due to the straighter case walls to allow for more powder capacity in a shorter package and it utilized a 30 degree shoulder to attain good headspacing and in the process better align the projectile to the bore which helps it be inherently accurate. The 30 degree shoulder also attributes to great brass life.

The original designers of the 6.5 Creedmoor didn't set out to make a dual purpose cartridge but that's exactly what happened. Alot of people realized the accuracy mixed with a great high BC and SD bullet selection made it into a great hunting package.

I personally bought one because I didn't have a short action cartridge that filled this particular niche. I realized quickly that not only was it accurate, it's very forgiving to shoot due to limited recoil, and it has always been easy and pain free to find a very accurate load with just about any bullet. It truly is a joy to load and shoot. It's also a very good option for youth or younger hunters, but it's at home also in the hands of an adult.

To sum it up I'll say this. A creedmoor has similar velocities to other 6.5 offerings, and it won't kill any better than the 6.5x55, or 260rem. It does give you the ability to load longer bullets without crowding the powder column and allows for higher max pressure than the swede. It will do everything the 7mm08 will do and its everything the the 243 wishes it was and will never be. It's not just a fad cartridge because if it was, then you wouldn't see every manufacturer chambering their rifles for it. It's popular for a host of reasons and due to that fact alone, finding brass / bullets won't be an issue (panic buying aside).
Lastly, shooting a creedmoor doesn't make you less of a man, a wuss, or a wimp. You won't grow a man bun if you shoot a creedmoor. It doesn't make you anything but someone enjoying another rifle cartridge.

Hunted big game for years with a Swede. Gave it to a nephew for graduating from college since he always lusted after it.

After that went out and bought a CM to replace it. What I could do with the Swede and handloads can be easily accomplished with CM factory ammo.

Folks that say you shouldn't hunt Elk with the CM just crack me up.

If you've never shot one then you'll never know. I wish everyone would quit learning about them. It's hard enough to find bullets for them as it is.
