Thems my thoughts on the subject too. Course we don't have a season on songbirds here anyway, Never felt I was missing out on much by not shooting birds you need 10 to a person to make a meal.

I'd hunt them if we ever get any rain to fill some dirt stock tanks. Mostly because those aren't crowded fields. I may not have the success some do there, but a couple of doves (they are tasty) would be equivalent to a couple of quail and that's enough for me sometimes.

I've ate em. They're alright but awfully puny.

The mashed taters would be alright but I got no interest in the beans and okra. Last time I cooked up some doves I filleted the breast halves off the bone and fried them up. Twelve doves. Amounted to one bite per side of breast. I ate all 12 myself with no problem.

To a point more shooters make for a better dove shoot. I debone mine and all that's left is two small medallions of breast meat. A quick marinade in Good Seasonings Italian dressing and on the Weber charcoal with several hickory chunks soaked for a hour or so in water. Just a few minutes at a low smokey heat and they melt in your mouth. Had about 40 on the grill yesterday with a big mess of skillet fried taters/onions. Make your tongue slap your brains out.

around here dove hunting is like duck hunting.

It’s a whole production.

Yeti coolers. $25k Polaris rangers to ride the 100 yds to where you gonna hunt.

Selfies. Plenty of selfies. Gotta take selfies with the young honeys.

#yee-yee

Not much shooting. Young bucks didn’t listen to the boomers and stock up on #8 shot 10 years ago when they were 12.

Wirh several fields on state spot, you want shooters in every field.

It keeps the birds moving.

A field w no shooters.....birds go in and land.
Hundred or so birds on the ground next field over kinda sucks.
