I'd say that if it weren't for the Shield Arms mags, Glock would sell alot less 48s and 43Xs. They're a total game changer for the slimline pistols.

I don't know about that. Most buyers aren't gun people and aren't even aware of the Shield Arms mags.

I would not have bought mine except I heard about the mags so I bought one. I will not go as far as saying it was my best decision, but it is far from my worst.

Nice looking pistol. Seems like a great balance of everything for carry.

I've got a 43x in the pipeline, and a couple of those Shield Arms magazines.

Those are sweet. My buddy uses those in his G48. Gotta use the metal mag release though. The polymer mag release can't. take the metal on plastic wear and tear.

Would like to see them come out w/ a flush 9-shot mag for the 6+1 GLOCK G36 .45ACP.

THAT - would be a game changer.

That's what I understand. I ordered the metal mag release from Shield Arms also.

The little pen/straw trick makes changing the mag release out easy.

A ,9+1 ,45 ACP would be a game changer?
How so?

Especially since the 30S is almost the same and the 36 is the worst selling standard caliber Glock ever.

Because it wouldn't be a brick like the G30/30s.

No, it is not almost the same... the G30s is still a brick.

And sales of a slimline, 1911 capacity GLOCK, in a world of high capacity manics, or 9mm sycophants, is not indicative of its intrinsic value.

The G36 was GLOCKs first single-stack CCW pistol.

And .45 ACP speaks for itself.

The grip thickness of Glock 36 is 0.5cm < Glock 30S. Alternative to G36 was Springfield XDs 4" .45 Auto. One of the reasons I dislike high capacity handguns is extra weight when the magazine is fully loaded. This is useless weight because I will never need > 6 rounds. My new gun is slightly larger then standard passport book and has thickness of 21mm. The magazine holds six 9mm cartridges.

You're missing the whole point. The larger diameter that a cartridge is, the less efficient it is at using magazine space. In other words, there's a lot more "air" in the magazine. I don't think it's possible to get 9rds of 45 in a G36 grip frame. Also, the G43x/48 is a stack and a half. It's easier getting it to a double stack when you're using .35 bullets. The G36 is a single stack and trying to get it to a stack and a half with .45 caliber bullets is impossible.

The GLOCK G36 magazine - is a fat-body singlestack.

It has internal rails to make it so.

A properly designed doublestack steel mag would greatly increase the capacity, up to possibly 9 or more rounds.

Revisit this thread.
The hogue grip makes a big difference IMO in nullifying the snappiness of the 48.
Little fuller in the beaver tail
Little fuller in the palm swell feel
And the finger grooves reduce front strap slide between shots.
More of a proper purchase area on the front strap on the 2nd pads of your 3 fingers due to the grooves also.

A big difference in the overall ergo feel in a positive way.

I polished the shark fin
Polished the birds head.
Polished the firing pin plunger and cut 3 coils off the plunger spring.
Instalked sheild metal mag release
Installed a Double Diamond 3.5 connector.
Installed a bigger Ghost slide release, the glock one kinda sucked IMO.

Went from almost 6pd inconsistent factory to a crisp 3.35 to 3.45 trigger.

Between the hogue grip and the trigger stuff my groups at 21 yards are around 3" with the glock grip now.
They were 4 to 5" with flyers blowing em out to 9 to 11"
WTF flyers have been eliminated and those I attribute to grip issues prior to the hogue grip install.
The trigger work helped some also.
A good crisp trigger is a plus.
But the grip issue,s were the biggest cause IMO.
Was having a hard time maintainong a consistent grip prior to the hogue grip and the snappiness of the pistol requiring me to repurchase a proper grip on it at times.

I was finding myself concentrating way too much or having to reaquire proper grip between shots.
It is due to the slimline of the pistol IMO.
Which I really like!!!
But I had to do something to address grip ergos in my mind.

I dont have to focus on grip now with the pistol .
It is muscle memory now.

Never had the grip issue with my other glocks I have had.
G17 gen 5, G44, G22 gen 3, G24 gen 3, G17 gen 1 or other peoples glocks I have shot over the years.
All non slim line obviously....

I always come back to glocks.
86 other brands and come back to a glock.
Been that way for me since 1987....

And I really like this 48 now that it feels right in my hand and the snappiness factor and grip issues have been eliminated for me.
Blue jean back pocket carry pistol in the summer,t shirt draped over.
Winter will be a belt holster, shirt jac/coat carry.

15 + 1 in these 48,s is nice.

To me the 48 is the best glock 9mm I have ever shot and carried honestly.
Little over a 4 inch barrel.

15+ 1 with these sheild mags.
Little trigger polishing work and a aftermarket connector.
The hogue grip
Set of tritum sights
It is a accurate pistol and easily concealable and has firepower.
Carry 115 gr barnes tac xp,s in it.

Smiling Larry of all people had these black hogues on clearance (they fit the 43x also) about a month ago for 5.71 IIRC
Was like 13 and some change shipped.

Some of you guys might wanna check em out if you have the snappy feel and reaquire grip problems I had.
And honestly that grip dont add much width at all to the slim line profile of the factory width.
But it does improve the ergos of the grip and you dont have to reaquire grip. Also gives you consistent grip muscle memory to the pistol which is very important for accuracy when shooting any handgun.

IMO
JME
YMMV
