It seems like the laminated/stainless No.1s are not quite as valuable resale-wise.
I ran across a 7mm-08 which I believe is the first year of manufacture for the stainless/laminate configuration. I can't seem to find too much info on this chambering, especially resale wise. I look at my rifles as something I like but also as some sort of investment so I don't want to overpay for it if I get it. In general No.1 collectors are traditionalists - nice blueing and a good piece of walnut, so I guess that's why the general interest in the SS/Lam is lower.
Anyone have any thoughts on this particular combination? It does appear to be unfired and looks like it comes with the box and rings.

Personally I don't like Laminated stock Looks!
I love the Stainless Barrel!
Give me a nice piece of Walnut, Especially Custom.
Or even a Fiberglass, Kevlar All weather Stock! JMO!

I also have a Marlin XLR444 which I also like, a lot. I guess my question is if anyone has any experience or seen one that sold recently.

It’s a little bit over that. That was my thought too, but, I don’t think I can get it that low.

I have the stainless/walnut No.1 in 30/30 also and it’s a favorite. Also have a stainless/laminate in 405 Win. If there was a chance of rain during a deer hunt the laminate would get taken.

My cousin bought one of the limited run stainless/walnut 1A rifles in .35 Whelan. It's a really nice rifle and is a good shooter.

Why? I never paid much attention to "silver" scopes (or stainless guns for that matter), but I am curious as to why they didn't sell.

Most consumers thought they looked tacky, even on SS guns, so they didn't buy enough of them to warrant continued production.
Now with even more aplomb

I haven't found a cheap no 1 in years. lol Seems they are all over $1600 in any configuration. I love my stainless 1KA in 257 Rob. My least favorites are the 1Bs seem too heavy for my liking but I'm not about to kick them to the curb either.

are those ruger extended rings? do they help you gat a better field if view? i'm looking at one in .223. owned a beauty in 6.5 creedmoor. i remember what a cf it was mounting a 6.5-20x40 with 3mm tube
also grouping was not that great. maybe little over an inch.

also grouping was not that great. maybe little over an inch. Two things peculiar to No.1s: For an average sized shooter, the Ruger extended rings (pictured) allow barely sufficient field of view at 2x, but not nearly enough at 7x, without crawling the stock a whole bunch. A scope with exceptionally long eye relief, or a larger statured shooter, may be enough to mitigate that problem. Shortening the stock to a bit less than the shooter’s usual length of pull may well correct the eye relief issue, but may adversely impact resale value. The No.1’s lock time presents a real follow through challenge for someone seeking to shoot tiny groups. It can certainly be done, but flawless technique is necessary every shot. It’s therefore probably not the best choice for consistently shooting the sub MOA groups which many of today’s shooters believe a rifle should easily produce.

Dont know where yu are located, but I am in middle Georgia, and a close friend of mine just ran a stainless laminate model B in 30-06 with a world class 3-9x40 scope. Gun is like new, and I think it is listed for $1500. might be a little flexible, not sure. Wallacem
