What's a good powder for a medium strength 454 loads with 250-300gr bullets? Or would I be better off with warm 45 colt loads? Just don't see the need for full house 454 loads for whitetails.

I use AA # 9 in my Freedom Arms with Hornady 250 XTPs in the 1450 fps range. That's about as fast as you want to send that bullet through the forcing cone.

I like 4227 in both 454 and 480 Ruger for less than full power loads.
