I'm working up a load for my brother's T3X Super light and the trigger is ridiculously heavy. Shooting it is like a workout every time you pull the trigger. I would like to adjust it to a reasonable amount but thought I would check to see if anyone on this forum has done this and what can I expect for a decent weight on these triggers? I personally like around 2- 2 1/2 pounds on my hunting triggers. Is this easily obtainable with these and how are they at that weight?

TIA,
Bob

Go to page 15 of the user manual - http://cdn1.tikka.fi/sites/default/...truction%20manual_S34065180_v5.1_WEB.pdf

Also says they can be adjusted between 2 and 4 pounds. Mine is at about 2 1/2 lbs and no issues.

Finished adjusting it a couple hours ago. Backed it out until the adjustment screw was jammed against the mounting bolt and it showed about 2 1/2 lbs on my trigger scale so I called it good. A bit better than the 3 3/4 lbs it was when I started. A nice clean break and no creep so I think it will work for him just fine....

Glad you got it worked out.

Interesting….both of my T3X Superlites came from the factory with the triggers adjusted perfectly. They both break clean between 2 and 2 1/2 lbs…..didn’t have to touch a thing.

Bob, all of the ones I've bought have been adjusted to 3 pounds from the factory. I will always dry fire a rifle before I buy it, as sometimes you will find one that may have issues. I buy rifles in your general area, as there are 2 Sportsman's near you. The last superlite I bought was at the store near where you live and it was excellent in fit and finish and met all of the requirements when I checked it out. About 3-4 years ago when a buddy and I were in the other store further away from you (Johnson Creek) we ran into some rifles that were not finished as well and some of them had heavy trigger pulls right out of the box. I don't know if Tikka sent out some duds at that time, or what. We also saw some of the same things going on at Cabela's right next door (so to speak). My buddy passed on a few rifles at that time because of what we saw. My buddy is very picky and I don't blame him, but it took him a while longer to find a rifle that looked great and functioned to his satisfaction. He ended up buying one at Cabela's in 2019. I'm wondering if your brother bought one of these rifles we were looking at back in 2018? Anyhow, I'm getting ready for a "hunting rifle" shoot I'm having this Saturday and it will be with one of my Tikka's or sporter m1917's. Also, I hope you have a good shooting 10-22. My club is having a golf ball shoot on the 18th and I'm hoping you can come and join in on the fun. I'll send you a PM....

My brother bought his Tikka just before hunting season last year at the Sportsmans Warehouse in Bend IIRC. I've been very impressed with the rifle but prefer a rifle with a little more weight for offhand shooting. The trigger probably would have been fine as it was but I can never leave well enough alone and after shooting the rifle I felt the trigger was just too heavy- but then I'm used to all the 1 1/2- 2 lb triggers in all my personal rifles. First time he shot the rifle AFAIK is hunting season last year and we sighted it in with factory Core Loks. It would put them all in around 1" even , which really impressed me with such a light rifle.

Don't own a 10-22, or any semi auto at the moment so I guess I would be a spectator at your event.... wink I'll have to let you know on that date as it is my son's 44th birthday and we are planning something for the day. If plans don't come around I'll let you know...

Totally understandable on all accounts my friend. I hope your son has a very nice birthday. Family is extremely important. Those Tikka's are very nice rifles. They are very light for me as well and really benefit with a lighter pull weight. I'm glad you got it figured out. Your brother will thank you for that, I'm sure.

Considering a Stainless Lite cost $1800 Scandinavia... they are a bargain in the US.

I now have 6 Tikka’s and have noticed the newer models (Wideland and Roughtech) have quite a bit heavier trigger pull then the models I bought over the previous 5 years or so even after adjusting all the way.

This is an easy fix that only takes about 5 minutes and $10 to do and all of my Tikka’s get a YoDave trigger spring now. You just have to remove the bolt that is holding the trigger housing to the action and then remove the trigger adjustment screw. The old spring will come right out and then you just reassemble. All of my triggers are now set at 1.5 to 2 pounds and break like glass.
