Recently moved my Dad (92 years old) into an assisted facility, he finally began needing some help to take care of himself. We lived about 1000 miles apart, so some logistics were at play. Note that I am the only one left in our immediate family to take care of this.
While removing the valuable stuff to take with me, I was going through his shooting stuff and found these bricks of .22 ammo, and a couple price tags I thought were interesting.

But the biggest surprise in the ammo box was a Beretta 948 I had no idea he had.
When I asked him about it, he said he brought it back from Italy when at port in the Navy serving on the USS Albany, a heavy cruiser in the early 1950s, a gunner's mate on a twin 3" gun turret.
He told me he gave a guy $20 for it.

And a great find on a cool little Beretta Pistol too. I bet it’s a shooter!

That .22 ammo must not be too old since Wildcats were only 5.00 a brick in the 1990's at least in Montana according to Jim Conrad. I remember paying 5.99 a brick in the mid 1970's but was apparently getting ripped off.

Our Great Warriors are becoming old and frail, it's hard to watch such Great Men vanish.

Please thank your father for me.

Super neat..... If my memory isn't getting too bad I recall $5. a brick 22LR's in the 1980's (?). Late 1980's, early 1990's, I recall those Winchester Wildcats in the little 50 round boxes at a buck each at a LGS. There was a brief 22 shortage when Clinton got elected in 1992 but it didn't last long and was nothing like when Obama got elected.

i shot a lot of that winchester and federal 22 along with plain remington. it was 3-4 bucks a brick in the 70's at kmart and my old man would dole that out to me 1 box at a time for my iver johnson revolver or the 572.

A brick of 22's were $4.99 at Kmart in the 70's and a Marlin Glenfield model 60 22lr cost $49.99 with scope and rings. Still have the rifle.
Nice find on the Beretta, looking back time really flies.

I remember those 49.99 Glenfield 60's and 44.99 Glenfield 20's. I didn't care for those and paid 59.95 for my Marlin 989M2 in 1976. Still have the rifle and the receipt.
