My brother ended up inheriting one of these- and wants to put a scope on it…

Which mount do you guys recommend?

I like the Bushnell 1.5-4x. Or even a 2-7x32.
I think a 3-9x40 is too much for a lever gun like that.

A rail from ranger point precision, the lowest rail for a Henry and just use whatever ring height you want.

If you use these rings the setup is solid and low as it gets !

Henry rails or the Talley made rails sit up too high

The Weaver base for the NEF/H&R single shot also fits the Henrys iirc.

I just assumed it were a leveraction.

Talley relabeled all of their H&R stock to Henry. I ordered directly from Talley for a handi rifle and it had a Henry sticker over the H&R sticker

I have several Henry's. I always use Warne 2 piece mounts on them. They are very robust, and they are the lowest option available. IME, the Talley 1 piece LW units put a low power scope well suited to levers up higher than need be; further, like others, I've had trouble with the ring tops cracking.

Unless you need it for ring spacing or to add inclination, a rail is just redundant on a solid receiver top design. And while aesthetics are certainly distant to function in the importance hierarchy, to my sensibilities, multi grooved rails just don't look right on a classically styled lever or single shot. I do have Warne 1 piece rails on several 7600's, but they are of the style that only has 2 slots. They are also very low profile.
