Fiocchi is half the price of Lapua and Nosler.

Usually get what you pay for but I’ve never used Fiocchi

Never used Fiocci, but I run cheap PPU in mine, and I haven't had any issues. The rifle is also just a cheap old 840, so it is by no means a match accuracy level platform to begin with.

The Nosler and Lapua is better quality brass, but it's really a matter of usage and the standards you're looking for in components. For me, it's not worth the extra cost in a rifle that is a 1+ MOA shooter. For someone looking to push pins in a more accurate rifle, it may very well be worth the price.

I assume you're limiting our choices to Lapua, Nosler and Fiocchi - correct? If so, then I would pick Lapua since I have used it extensively along with Rem, Win, Norma, and PMC in my very accurate CZ 527, and the Lapua is super consistent and durable stuff. I've not used Nosler 222 Rem brass but have used Nosler 257 Roberts brass and it was excellent. I have no experience reloading Fiocchi cases. But as one poster already noted, my choice of brass would depend on how accurate my 222 Rem rifle was and how much it mattered that I squeeze every bit of performance out of the rifle.

It’s a CZ 527, seems like it has real potential.

I'm going to agree with MT_DD_FAN in that case and say go with something higher quality.

I'm shooting Lapua in my target gun and Win. in my çoyote rifle. I did buy a hundred rounds of Starline and it is nice.

I've seen long brass life with Winchester and Remington, but it's all older brass; the Remington is from the '60s, I think. I don't know about the newer stuff.

I have been shooting the 222 for a long time and have found a few interesting things?!&^%$#@!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have many different lots of older Norma, Remington,winchester and Lapua....etc. it varies in weight and quality more than any other cartridge I have EVER reloaded for...!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best advice I can give is buy all the Lapua brass you can from same lot#, Nosler is expensive and junk in this chambering. second best surprisingly is Federal, very good and uniform in 222

I wasn't much of a brass snob when it came to my 222. Most of my prairie doggin' brass is Winchester.
However, a few years back I came upon a deal on some RWS and Lapua brass(check out my avatar) at a decent price.
My Vixen definitely shows a preference for the high end stuff; not enough to ditch all my Winchester brass, but it is always fun to chase smaller groups, especially with varmint guns.

This is for all the Lapoopoo fans. Lapua isn’t gods gift of brass or perfect. I gave up on em when I had a 20% cull rate out their ready to load 223 match brass. I was getting more consistency out of a bag of Winchester. Stuff was sh*t.

Lapua, Nosler, Petersen Norma, etc are too salty for me, but I'm not chasing match accuracy.

I just use the PPU in mine because it's cheap, and my rifle doesn't seem to care what you stuff in it as long as it's not mixed. It's gonna give you around 1" @ 100 once you dial in a load, and not much better or worse regardless of the price tag on any of the components. Good enough for popping ground squirrels and moles around the farmyard, but not gonna win you any prizes 😂

I normally go with cheap brass. But a friend wanted to have me load 222 for deer for his kid. He ended up with 50 of my R-P brass. I looked and could only find Nosler to replace the R-P. I am impressed with Nosler quality. I have found that with other brass as well. 35 Whelen, all I could find was Nosler - I like it.
With 280AI I had to go with Peterson brass, it was also good.

It’s odd that no one has mentioned Starline.

Remington, Lapua, Nosler and even Herter’s have all worked well in several 222’s.

I haven't had the best of luck with their 308 and 243 Winchester brass. The neck walls were not uniform.

The best .223 brass, as well as .243 and .308 brass were all by Lapua. The .30BR is Lapua of course. It's expensive, and I still do my prep on it, but it has been worth it.

I've used everything from military surplus to every source of domestic brass out there. There weren't any really clear winners as long as it was used to feed AR's. Since sending the last AR down the road but continuing to feed a sweetheart of an accurate Browning Low Wall .223 single shot, Lapua and Federal match brass are my strict go-to's. Combined with Berger bullets it's a combo that makes me blush to describe its day in-day out accuracy. I hoovered up every piece of Lapua .223 brass I could find last year to guarantee continuing success.

I think you missed the title of this thread "222" not "223"

There are some that might like to try it, but it's on backorder just like every time I have been on their website

Keep watching I bought a hundred rounds of Starline last summer. It seems to be nice brass. I've also made 222 from 223.

Maybe look around at Midway or Midsouth SS.

Now we are sucking nut sack over .06 in length when parent case is 222

I’ve used lapua,nosler,R-P,norma and WW in my 22’s. I don’t load them hot and none of my 222’s are accurate enough for me to tell if one brand is performing more accurately than the others. I’d use whatever you can get these day! Lapua is my favorite brass though overall.

I use Lapua and Winchester in my 222. Older Winchester was pretty good. Winchester made after 2007-2008 is a crap shoot.

I use CFEBLK in mine because it's extremely economical, and velocity is decent with moderate pressure. I'm shooting an old 840, which is an open top action with one lug, so I like keeping the loads mild.

Barring that, most 222s respond very well to 4198.

OK, Ive been wondering about CFE BLK lately but cant find any data for it in the .222

What is your load? And with what grain bullets?

And do you know what velocities you are getting?

My rifle has a 1:16 twist barrel, so I'm fairly limited for bullet choices. I'm using the 30 grain Barnes Varmint Grenades over a fairly mild load (20.2gr). They chrono around 3430 10' from the muzzle. The accuracy is decent, but that bullet is about as aerodynamic as a brick, so they drop pretty quickly past 150 yards.

Gotcha...I was looking for data with the 55 grain bullet and their website doesnt list it for bullets that heavy.

Poobs, Hodgdon's website now has data for CFE BLK for up to 50 gr bullets. Not sure how long it has been there.

Yeah I saw that, but check my previous post, I was hoping to find data for 55 grainers . No joy.
