An armed society is a polite society.

I believe he also invented the water bed.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

One of my favorites:

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”
― Robert A. Heinlein

Heinlein was the King of SciFi, and quite conservative as well.

Don't be the darkness.

Only book of his I've tried to read was Stranger in a Strange Land. Man, was that a bore! Just droned on and on. I like his philosophy, though.

Of course, I think I was like 15 when I tried to read it. Might like it if I read it now.

Great advice. The world would be a better place if people could just mind their own business.

I was disappointed by Stranger in a Strange Land too. It was windy, preachy, and sometimes teetered on the brink of soft core porn. It just was a real departure from his other works.

I do like the quote though.

He got weirdly sexual in his later works. Early books were great.

And his heroes kept a lye pit on property in which to dispose of nosey Feds. With the understanding, of course, that use of such pit would necessitate an immediate jump off world to avoid ultimately unsuccessful battle with those who come looking for their missing agent

The problem today is, we do not have an alternate habitat for that jump.
