What kind of dog are you trying to train a decoy dog or a trailing hound. If it's a hound you shouldn't have to go far in upstate NY. Look up your local coyote pen and just stop by and talk to some of the guys there they can help. If the dog is any good will just need exposure to the game and it will train itself.

I had a pack of mostly Walker hounds with some July blood for many years. If the hound has the bloodline and desire, exposure either on the outside or in a pen is all that is needed. Train them to come to a horn/whistle/etc is pretty much all that was needed. I ran my pack in and out of the wire in 4 states for 15-20 years.

I don’t recognize the name you mentioned but I’ve been out for over 10 years now. Some of the best hounds I’ve seen came from around Versailles MO. The gentleman who has since passed had a several 100 acre pen in some pretty rough country. I got my two best hounds from him. The guys in Southern IL, North MO and Iowa run similar hounds that are long on speed and fight, nose not as important, but damn good hounds.

There used to be a website, ran by a gentleman that went my Vargy. I haven’t visited it in years. He is a straight shooter and will lead you in the right direction,

Vargy used to regularly post on Predator Masters. VERY experienced fellow. Have not seen any of his stuff in a few years though.
