The Govt might actually “shut down”. Wish we could shut it down permanently.

Wrong.

Shutdowns will be for the people we see.
Doing things for us. (Even if lazy and incompetent)

The elected officials, their staff members, and the policy creating
bureaucrats will not be shut down. Their pay will not stop.

And I think the ones put out of work get back pay once things
are running again.

Being that I work for the Govt, specifically for the Bureau Of Prisons, I can tell you that a shutdown does nothing but p!ss the people off that keep felons inside the fence. Get enough pissed people and they grow complacent, and that complacency can lead to the safety of the non effected citizens being compromised. A shutdown affects all working class government employees but the idiot politicians still keep their pay. There are multiple govt agencies including multiple LE agencies that will go without pay.

Bottom line is that a shutdown only uses taxpayers as pawns and NO ONE wants to go to work for free and figure out how to pay a mortgage while the politicians play tiddlywinks

Regrettably, the ones that would, by their absence benefit the country the most, Congress, will be hard at work futzing things up and futzing us over.
