Yes, it's another shamanic left nut thread, but I'm posting this for the people that are interested. I understand if you're not. I'm trying to detail the highlights of the process. I know that August 1, I was completely in the dark. I'd seen KYHillChick go through the process with her lumpectomy, but that was a whole other cancer, course of treatment, and different prognosis.

I just got my first blood test results back from the blood draws they took on Friday. This would be roughly a month since the surgery and 45 days since the diagnosis. This was a quiet nail-biter. If the results came back elevated or unchanged, there'd be a good chance there was still malignancy out there that had not been caught. Doc said, it might attack the kidneys first and then head to the lungs.

Both my AFP and TFP levels (don't ask me for an explanation) were slightly reduced. They never got all that high. AFP is supposed to be between 0-9. TFP is supposed to be between 0 and 3. This latter test went from between 2 down to 1.

This affirms the doc's supposition that he got it all. Not to be overly optimistic, he also said that I'd be dealing with this the rest of my life. I have CT scans scheduled for December, and a consultation with the Pulmonary Group in October. There were some spots on my lung that need watching. My guess is they're scar tissue from pneumonia 30 years ago, but I'm all for being thorough.

This is how my life is shaping up: trying to keep a normal trim on my life while navigating from one knuckle-biter to the next. I got caught in fog one time out on Georgian Bay, east of Killarney. I had a compass and a watch, and a chart. I knew I was hitting a buoy every so many minutes, I had a compass heading from the map to the next buoy. All I could do was watch the fog roll by and then every so often try to pick up the next buoy. I made it back to camp a bit damp from the fog.

This guy I know sez he has an enlarged left testicle, had it for years. A doctor said he could
drain it but could not guarantee it would not come back. It drained one night, lots of blood.
It came back and the po' ol' boy just lives with it.

That probably isn't a malignancy, otherwise, he'd be dead. From what I understand, the cancer I had is normally a dig-a-hole variety if it's left untreated-- unlike Prostate Cancer which can be around for decades. My advice would be to go to the doc and get it looked at. If it's causing him that much trouble, it probably isn't doing what God created it for anyway. Another thing I found out in this is that testicles are hard to treat. Removal is the most common treatment.

As they say, "if it's not one thing, it's another". I do hope that your path remans clear of such rocks.
