was wondering how many of you have shot the GMX bullet, and how you like it? i was looking at the 90gr for my 257 roberts, looks like it will be a sweet bullet. i love the barnes ttsx cause they shoot holes upon holes for me, and i know if it aint broke dont fix it, but thought i might give them a try, unless these bullets just kinda explode once they enter the animal, instead of keeping their weight retention

You'll probably get more feedback if you post somewhere other than Gunsmithing.

I used some in a Savage 25-06 that I had for a short time. Accuracy was very good, but I never shot any game with them, so I don't know about terminal performance.
I did use some 120 GMX out of a 6.5 Grendel, and even at middling velocity they knock the stuffing out of coyotes at short range. Never recovered one to see what it looked like, but they did the job.

My cousin used them in a 300 WSM on elk (i don't remember weight.) Elk hit, walked forward downhill and fell dead. I didn't check the internal damage.

Shot a decent buck last year with a 165gr GMX out of a 300WSM. Took two steps and flopped over

I havent used the gmx but really like the superformance ammo , dont think i will have trouble with them blowing up as they are designed to be confrolled expansion solid bullets. Thank you all for your great advice

I've used both SP and GMX on over a half dozen caribou and one moose ( I think that was SP.). 150 gr in 30-06. The SP makes big holes under 300 yards as a rule of thumb. The GMX makes smaller holes, but still as effective.. About what one expects from a mono, vs a fast moving expanding-point designed for long range shooting expansion.
They do NOT print to the same place on paper - there was about 8" difference with my rifle, which incidentally will put 3 into an inch at 300 yards.if I can hold it steady enough.. The GMX went high and right from the SP.

one has to consider the fps at impact with the GMX's. even in the ad the expansion at any thing less than 2500fps looks poor. 3400fps is great but the calibers with impact velocities like that at 200yards plus are few and far between.
