If they gave equal coverage, 24 hour news would be doing nothing but covering murder and missing women and children in black communities across the nation. There would be no time to cover anything else. Same reason they don't cover "dog bites man," but when a "man bites a dog," it gets national headlines.

This is similar to the Jon Benet story in Colorado. Massive national news, pretty rich child murdered could have been the family, a stranger, pedophile ring... etc. Years of investigative coverage, millions of dollars spent, special investigators, family hounded, jobs lost, but no viable suspects ever found. At the same time three other little girls were murdered ( with in weeks), lucky to get fourth page news paper coverage for a day. Only one was solved, obvious suspect mother's boyfriend (found guilty). Others never solved but no real media coverage or investigation coverage. I was astonished, i mean really astonished to find out they were poor black girls. Yet the Jon Benet story has never died while these other girls are largely forgotten.
