What’s the best option for bases? I’m still not even sure I want to mount a scope yet as I would need to modify the bolt and swing safety( really don’t like high mounted scopes). It already has one hole drilled in the back and one in the front.

Is that for a 46 or 146? The rifle you posted about last month was a 146, as I recall.

Which bases to get depends on 1) whether you intend to reprofile teh rear bridge and remove the charger hump or not. 2) Type of rings you plan to use. 3) where those existing holes are located if you plan to use them. Warne and Leupold both make bases that fit an unaltered 98 (one without the charger hump removed. Assuming of course you meant 146 not 46. If you remove the hump, then bases intended for an FN commercail can be used (again, depending on exiting hole location). I used a set of EAW mounts on this one:

The Canadian importer of many of these rifles, Tradex, lists on their website the Weaver #46 (front) and the #55 (rear) for the small ring Mauser. It lists the Weaver #46 (front) and #45 (rear) for the large ring Mauser.
My Vapen Depoten Falun small ring wears the correct #46 and #55 bases. I don’t have a large ring Mauser to check.

Nick The rear bases will only work if 1) you alter the rear bridge or 2) you alter the base. But you are correct that those are the correct base #'s for both types.

I rue the day I had to sell the 9.3X62 I got from you, but it went to a very close friend who said I could buy it back someday. I love what you do with these Husqvarnas.

Did you do the bolt handle replacement or did you have it done by somebody else?
