I have a Rem 541 re barreled to 17 M2 and am considering re chambering to 17 hmr. Know it's crazy but at my age I don't care. Would use a single shot adapter. What all would be involved?

Not 100% but I think the twist may not be right between the 2
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

So everything inside the chamber looks ok. Check that there is room to get the long cartridge in and out of the the chamber. I had to make an ejector over ride button in a Mosin Nagant to shoot the longer 300WinMag. Unfired rounds were too long to eject..

You likely need to modify the boltface for the larger rim and possibly the extractors.
I rechambered quite a few of the Romanian M69 trainers from 22 lr to 22 Mag. Simple rechamber and open boltface. The extractors on that model did not need to be modified. They were of course single shots afterward.

Thanks everyone, It's looking like it might not be too bad. The hmr fits the extractors and I think the bolt face but will do some more checking. Not sure about ejecting an unfired round. Great feed back ....thanks again.
