Selling this for a friend, going to put it on my table at an upcoming gunshow. Not knowing much about them, but this one seems real nice! Probably not original barrel band. He said he got it about 40 years ago, and just sat in the closet. Took cosmoline off of it , but never fired it. Bore is super nice also.

It is not British, it was made at Lithgow, in Australia, in 1941. It had a factory rebuild (FTR - "Factory Thorough Repair") at some stage, probably in 1945 given that this is the date on the butt. The barrel band probably is original, or at least from the FTR. It looks like it is in reasonable nick. Probably fetch around $400 here, maybe a bit more, but I don't know what they are bringing in the US.

East Coast - that would be closer to $600-650, maybe $750 to the right collector.

Especially if not import marked - look for an importer stamp on the exterior surface - usually near the muzzle, but these can be on the receiver as well.

Wood is good for age, and has the cartouches - they look pretty clear.
