Like I said earlier those Herter game loads are 6.99 / box but often on sale at 59.99 a flat. 12 ga are not much better priced than that and any Gomer can shoot a 12 MB

I have two 16 gauge pump guns, a Winchester Model 12 and a Remington model 31. I love pheasant hunting with the 16, easy to carry and it packs a punch. Several years ago I picked up a mint Mec single stage with a primer feed for $60. What a great investment, I know load all my target loads and that gives me the opportunity to do some skeet and trap shooting before pheasant season starts. I have also reloaded pheasant loads with #6 copper. But prefer factory for pheasant hunting since I had some sizing issues and missed a few birds when I could not chamber a round. Enjoy our 16, Carries like a 20 and Hits like a 12!

Cabelas has some #5 1 1/8 ounce loads in stock for $79. Had a 15% off coupon so was around $68. If they would have had 8s I'd a bought a couple more flats.

I noted reference to the BP 16 ga reloading manual. I had one, and found it useless. The stack heights were way off on several loads I tried. The manual was recycled.
