I have ITP M&S AT589 tires on my Rubicon....I like the increased ground clearance and traction is good but they are hard and stiff thus making for a harder ride.....do any of the after-market tires provide the increased diameter etc and still provide a softer ride?

My Mud-Lites have been good so far and are known to be a soft-riding tire. I have the 26" version. I've also had the Vampires, and they were stiff. I hear lots of good things about the Mud-Bugs as well, mainly that they offer a good ride while still giving lots of traction and good tread wear.

Look at a radial tire, either the Maxxis Bighorns or the ITP XTR (Extreme Terrain Radial). Both provide a better ride and sacrifice nothing when it comes to traction or ground clearance, but they are more expensive..

My Bighorns are hands down the best tires I have ever used on any ATV, including my Rokon.

They run at least as big as marked. Be careful sizing up as they may be too big for some machines. My 25" bighorns are easily 2" taller then the stock Maxxis tires. Yet they are marked exactly the same size,..... and both made by Maxxis!

It is likely a combination of the stock tires running small, and the bighonrs running big. I have also noticed that the 25" bighorns were bigger then 26" mudlights when parked next to each other. That could be air pressure dependant as well?

JJ,

I noticed the same thing. I think most run small, but the Bighorns are true to size...

Thanks for your input all......I'm doing further research but leaning toward the Bighorn.....that sizing thing will require some hands-on....

I've been running the 26" ITP Mudlite XT's on my machine for 2 years now and they are barely showing signs of wear and they are also 6 ply. I really like the 589's but their weight is a big downer for me. I've been stuck, I mean really stuck with them only once and it was of my own doing. When these run wear out I will probably buy them again.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.
