Looks like with that kind of pedigree it would be hard to go wrong. IMO most of them are as good as the owners commitment to raise them right. Based on your experience with Trap, whichever pup you pick will be a lucky dog.

The question is rhetorical - we all know you've already made up your mind smile

Good luck and enjoy your new bud when you pick him/her out and take home.

Haven't heard if she is pregnant yet ?
I'm hoping so ....
The breeder will pick for me. She had changed up a dog I was going to buy, for Trap. She got to know me some, while waiting for the other dog, and knowing her dogs, suggested Trap. Said we would be a better fit.
She was sooooo correct !!!
I will trust her to watch the pups, and pick one that she thinks will be what I want.
Finn, will fly out of Onalaska, Wa., and I might have a Christmas puppy.

Georgia is pregnant !!
Hopefully there are males in the litter.....
If all goes well, I'll be a dad of a new yellow pup around Christmas !!

His call name will be Fin.

He's got some tall boots to fill after Trap.
I will do my best to get him to be the best he can be.

Skip pedigree #1.....in the grandparents line you DON'T breed chocolate and yellow together, Two recessive color genes. Always breed back to black with a black female that is black or chocolate factored.

Pedigree #2 is what you want. In that pedigree is 2XNFC Candlewoods Tanks Alot ( Call name Lottie). I saw that bitch in training with Mike Lardy. Mike said she was the only female he had ever trained with the drive of a male lab. In the late 90's "Lottie" was sold to a women in Pittsburg. Pa with the last name of Swindle for $250,000, the MOST ever....ever paid for a field trial dog. As an example "NFC2xAFC Ebonstar Lean Mac" (Max) was purchased for $80,000...he was the most handsome black lab I ever saw. I have pictures of Max some where in my dog album.

I don't think this breeding will produce any Dudley's because of the chocolate and yellow mix.
Keeper is a great looking, big, guy.

Your are not alone, 98% of retriever competitors would never even have a miniscule thought of wasting their time
on a "Brown dog". And they are not wrong. Having 3 color choices of labs I picked "Chocolate", In doing so I followed "Storms Riptide Star" working career since he was qualified all age wanting the best gene pool available
knowing the challenges and perception of chocolate dogs in the field.

As a follow up their is NOT ONE chocolate dog in Rascals pedigree, yet two brown dogs in his litter. I have also owned and trained all three colors of labs that I owned.

Yet in my mind, I wouldn't EVER...ever consider a Golden, or Chessie or Flat Coat.

Nope. Me either.
Friends campaign Chessie's.
They are doing very well with multiple trips to Master National, and one dog, breaking the mold, and doing well in the show circuit.

I like yellow dogs, even the never ending, highly visible, fibers of love !

It's a color thing for me. Yellow blends better in dry grass/weeds, and better in cornfields, my main hunting terrain.
They also show facial expressions, and intelligence better than blend in black.

Is one color better than another ? No, it's about breeding.
Do I trust the breeder, and lineage in the line of the color of the dog I want ?
It'll be my 2nd from her, so I must have trust I'll get a good dog.

Got ourselves a chocolate Lab pup, our first Lab. Man, is he fun. Sire and dam were both black. Maybe that will will help a bit. I hope he turns out to be as good a hunter as my Boykin and Golden were.

It is funny we look at all the good we can find in the Pedigree yet we don't look at or look into the negatives. I have seen a bunch of great dogs from great Pedigree's that have had a lot of issues. Finding a great dog with no or very few issues is what we should really be searching for.
