Sitting on the front porch this morning sipping on hot tea prior to heading out on the bicycle to work, soon as I opened the door the dog went into full “Watch out, there’s a thunderstorm!” mode right off. Wont leave my side. I can’t hear it, he obviously can. I checked, weather radar shows a small cell headed this way ten miles out. I hate riding in the rain, hate riding in the rain in the dark next to the morning rush even more. Looks like I’m driving in. Cleburne; peerless 4am intruder-stopper and now weather dog 😎

Bandit does the same thing. He worries about it. Bailey couldn't care less. Bob, my brother texted me this morning and said he's expecting 4-5 inches at his ranch in Llano. Y'all send it down here when you are done!

My dog isn't sharp enough to get in out of the rain and couldn't care less about lound noises, but she's sweet as pie, a good companion and hell on critters.

One of ours would start shivering long before I could hear thunder.

Flash flood warning already posted for this area 36hrs in advance for a rain event beginning tomorrow evening, remnants of that hurricane hitting the west coast of Mexico today. https://www.wunderground.com/hurricaneThey’re sure it’s gonna rain, can’t tell how much, covering their bases. The weekend looks interesting, supposed to drop into the upper 40’s here.

Your brothers place up there around Field Creek/ Valley Spgs. Or Pontotoc area?

It's right before Valley Springs on 71 out of Llano.
Our old homestead ranch is in Pontotoc. Got to be too many heirs in that place, and we sold it, and sent everyone their money. It's the ranch that Panther Rock is on. Solid red granite.

My German Shepherds will go all Cujo on a pit-bull with no fear, but a little rain falling out of the sky, worse yet add in some thunder, and they cower and hide under or behind Mom or any available furniture. It's like they think they're made of sugar and the rain water is gonna melt 'em.

We had a GSP that was deathly afraid of thunder, but amazing in her predictive abilities. We had a small end table that was her shelter when she felt threatened. Many times we would be watching the evening news and the weather prediction would be for no rain, or no severe weather. One look at Molly under the table and we knew what was coming. I cannot remember a time when she was wrong, sometimes the storms were still hours away and there was not a cloud in the sky, but she knew.

It's like they think they're made of sugar and the rain water is gonna melt 'em. I grew up with a big male GS in the house. He was pretty fearless, but thunder would have him cowering under an end table in the corner. My female Airedale is so unconcerned with loud noises that she's prone to wandering out in front of me when I'm shooting. To her, gunshots mean dead critters to sniff and maul.

Yes. The 40’s will be nice!! I'd take that for a low. 20F this morning. 2 degrees higher than predicted, so I'll take that for a win! I'm thinking most every pepper and tomato plant I have under cover will still be dead when I pull the covers off the plastic this morning. Even though the sun is shining, it still hasn't reached 32F yet. On a good note....................................................................we've had 0.03" of rain in October. Quite the start to our rain year. Going like gangbusters.
