The Ruger New Vaquero is good. And of course the Blackhawk unless you want something more in line with the SAA

Thanks will take a look at the Vaquero- certainly doesn’t need to in th SAA line up. Plinking steel at home and maybe try my hand at some small game around the property so not looking for anything too special. Thanks

I got a New Vaquero on the basis of talking to Cowboy Action shooters, "They don't break.", but that was back when they were reasonably priced. Today I would take a hard look at a Great Western II, the one made by Pietta and a close clone of a real SAA. A simpler lockwork than the New Vaquero, no safety mechanisms. I kind of like that

Thanks for the advices. If anyone has a lead on actual firearm I would appreciate that as well. At this point I’d consider all - still studying up!

As 5thShock mentioned, the GW II by Pietta is a damn good S/A as is a Uberti/Taylor's models. I have both in .45 Colt. Look at Tombstone Tactical for sinlge action revolvers. You'll find something there. These are very good Italian replicas for a decent price. Hope this helps.

I don't know how far you are from First Stop Guns in Rapid City but I bet they would have a nice Pietta or Uberti for a good price.

. All i can say is that it goes from one [bleep] show to another in the commie fornia area/ hollywood. From their BS politics to the drama of the lifestyles of the rich and shameless. However I wish all the best to all the families affected by this latest incident..

MaxBB, if you have large hands, take a look at Uberti Cattleman El Patron "Grizzly Paw" grips[Army grips]. Good looking revolver.

You should be sure to take some screwdrivers that fit when you go shooting. The screws are not usually tight in the clones that I own. First time out shooting I lost a frame screw.

Take yor pick, these have all served me well. The Bisley in particular with factory 250/255 gr loads. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/KYltSS7.jpg) These are particulary fun with 200 grain loads: ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/J9wiiKA.jpg) While I don't have a Cimarron in .45 Colt, I do have one in .44 Special. A great gun.

+1 on the Ruger New Vaquero. Love mine!

Brookings gun show today and tomorrow. I bought a 45 Colt “Colt Clone” from Gary’s Gun shop in Sioux Falls a couple years ago. The big gun show is coming up in Sioux Falls. Lots of venders there.

yes they do break, transfer bars break in Fast Draw matches all the time and loading gate springs get weak and cause scratching on the cylinders. I have been shooting them for the last 15 years in matches and they are strong guns. but like everything they do break and wear out. but for a normal shooter they will last you forever.

Another option is to find a Blackhawk in both .45acp and .45 colt., more fun for the $'s spent. The Vaquero's are great shooters too.

Any recommendation(s) would be appreciated. Thanks ' One thing to keep in mind is the hammer safety or lack of hammer safety. The original design does not have one....it's "load one, skip one, then load four"....the hammer rests on an empty cylinder. Every Uberti except Arizona Ranger and Evil Roy has a floating firing pin safety now. All Piettas are faithful to the original design. So you have to decide, "Am I cool with a hammer safety or do I want the original Colt design ?"![[Linked Image from 3.bp.blogspot.com]](https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_tC3Tis3xfU/W4GJiv_cz4I/AAAAAAAAu2o/GSZage6y5X09rtLsLuIeEhBqOM_eM7_VwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_0095.JPG) ![[Linked Image from 3.bp.blogspot.com]](https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--ZTdvyQ8TBQ/W4GJmBkzDeI/AAAAAAAAu2s/OrlLmT2FyecyokL_8v1QnBoKMTQrruJAgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_0096.JPG) Next is barrel length. "Do I want a 4-3/4" or a 5-1/2" or a 7-1/2" ?"4-3/4" is gunfighter length. 5-1/2" is artillery length 7-1/2" is the original cavalry length In Uberti I'd get Arizona Ranger or Evil Roy (1lb-4oz trigger) no hammer safety In Pietta I'd get a Great Western II Deluxe Californian (4lb- 3oz trigger) no hammer safety Trigger pull weights can be adjusted very easily.

Brian Pearce likes the Piettas because they copy the Colt pattern, have cylinder bushings and recoil plates you can replace. Very reasonable.
What fresh Hell is this?

Brian Pearce also likes the Ubertis because they can handle 45 ACP+P loads. He does not recommend that in the Piettas.

Maybe I've missed it but nobody offered the suggestion of a old replica or an original in a Schofield.
I have the Uberti Schofield replica chambered in 45 Colt but I mostly shoot 45 Scofield through it and it shoots freaking awesome..
