First coues of the year #16525378 10/13/21 Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 15,647 Coues Country G GregW OP Campfire Ranger OP GregW Campfire Ranger G Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 15,647 Coues Country Helped a pard this week harvest a great coues. We were after a bigger one but movement was tough this week so he settled on the second best buck we saw. First hard horned buck we saw all week. All still in velvet. I helped my nephews on a youth hunt the past week. We hunted hard for the opportunities we got, not a lot of movement out there. All the bucks we saw (mule deer and coues) were in velvet.

This buck had large amounts of fat. I'm just happy for the condition of the deer. The deer antlers and their late stripping of velvet are indicative of his.
