Biden is desperate to make the economic reports reflect consumer spending and consumer confidence over the holiday season.
Kind of tough to do that with empty shelves on the gift stores.
It's going to be weak anyways, given inflation. Gas and grocery prices will have an effect. We haven't even started talking about the rising cost of heating the home in the colder months.

Did some grocery shopping yesterday afternoon. Lots of empty shelves there, too. Aldi was an eye opener. The fresh fruit and vegetable aisle looked like the po-po had just tossed the place. Lol.

When you have a track record of getting everything wrong, month after month, it really starts to look suspicious to anyone with any sense.
If you wanted to destroy the American way of life, it wouldn't be a bad plot to utilize the Trojan horse of geriatric ineptitude to buy yourself additional time for progress on the front end, before the public realizes what's really in the horse that's now sitting inside the walls. "This dumb old guy sucks" seems far less scary than "These people are systematically dismantling our country and dissolving our freedoms".
